I want to know if period cycles can be inherrited. My mom and my gran have both told me that they had irregular periods when they were my age.I am just curious and I appreciate all answers.Thanks.

Sometimes.What usually happens is if there is another female in the house or where you live you tend to follow they same cycles as the person.You will get your period when they do and vice verse.So if there were any changes to it,it would disrupt your cycles. I am not sure what causes it but it happens all the time.What is hereditary is when you go thru the change of life at the same age as when your mother did so if she did you also will around the same age.Good Luck!

Yes, I inherited mine from my great grandmother who married at 17 but didn't have kids till she was 20 because of starting menstruation so late. I thought I would never start, but it finally started at 18.

don't worry about that jean, it depends on one hand on the genetics but on the other hand, it's not always a must, depends on your metabolic function, I mean if you're through a certain period of age, you would experience several biological shifts

yes, i believe cycles are somewhat genetic, but you won't necessarily take after your mother or grandmother, you might just be more likely too.
