I have lived in both so therefore I am an expert :-)

I say Raleigh for many reason's, I loved Denver but could not wait to leave!

Reason's to go with Raleigh:
1. Close to the beach and mountains. (I know you Coloradeans will discount NC mountains because they are smaller).
2. NC mountains are much preferable for hiking, especially if you have any breathing problems. It is beautiful and so LUSH!
3. Raleigh is a bit more Posh, and you sound like you would fit.
4. Just a short drive to NY, DC, FL....need I go on?
5. Much cleaner!
6. More jobs.
7. Lower cost of living compared to Denver and a much higher wage.

Denver:
1. Very close to the most amazing mountains, however, I got nose bleeds the whole year we lived there due to the altitude.
2. People are very kind.
3. Very outdoorsy lot, very fit people.

Both cities will be very good for you. It just depends on your personality.

I can only speak for Denver.

It's nice place if you are into the outdoors. However, you have to want to involve yourself with activites as I have found it's difficult to make friends unless you've lived here for quite some time.

It's also one of the "healthiest" places to live, one of the lowest obseity rates in the USA.
TONS of bike trails, great recreation department, however, not many "natives" stilllive here and those that are "natives" will hold it agaisnt you that you are not.
The state is widely republican, but with the massive amount of "transplants" that have moved here in the past 20 years, it's becoming more democratic day by day.

Denver is also technically the "high desert", so it's very dry, very low humidity, I would recommend a hummidifier in the winter or you will shock yourself when you walk across the room often enough that it's irrating. However, low allergeies are a nice thing as well.

Denver had 4 seasons, but it's not unusal to have it be 60 or 70 in Decemeber. We get snoe, but it doesn't last all that long on the ground. A few days of sunshine and it's all gone.

All in all I like it!

Denver could be the perform where in actuality the glow will sunlight 300 times of year. Denver is a booming social world, diverse neighborhoods, and organic beauty mix for the world's most spectacular playground and with hotelbye you can see how to get there. Denver is the spot for: World-class attractions, organic wonders, flourishing arts scene, dozens of progressive and acclaimed restaurants and nightlife options galore. Denver definitely started using it all. In Denver you can go to the Mount Evans and the Mount Evans Highway. The Mount Evans Highway is really a periodic path which can be shut throughout the wintertime months

Like Mrs. Mad Maddy, I have spent considerable time in both - if not lived in both.

They are very, very different cities. And a lot of it depends upon your personal interests and lifestyle - what you like to do.

Denver is much more of a big urban center - Raleigh is still a small southern city. Different advantages and disadvantages result.

Landscape around the city is very different, too.

Spend some time in each, if you can.

And, if you are just out of school without family, no decision on where to live is final.

Good luck.

My vote goes to Denver, CO. I lived in Boulder, just west of Denver, for 7 years. Jobs took me away and I've missed it so much. I call it "God's country". It has beautiful mountains, water falls, sunsets, just mother nature wrapped in all her glory. One of these days I wish to move back.
