well i don't know where you live, but where i am the girls dress nothing like boys, but many dress very provocatively. I think girls are so used to being judged by their looks(how revealing their clothes are, how skinny they are, how many lads fancy them, how sexy they are etc etc) that many seem to think that they are worthless if they just try to be themselves!
Society today is geared up for the mini celebrity. they all want a piece, they all think that hooking themselves a nice rich footballer is the key to life.
OUT the window went ambition,
OUT the window went real girl power, i would prefer to see a girl dressed in baggy clothes than looking like a hooker.

One thing i agree with you on though, is just how beautiful, a truly feminine woman can be.
The MOST beautiful thing ever though would be if people could just be happy in their own skins and accept others that way too!

I have a younger sister who gets in fights all the time, swears like a trooper, smokes marijuana like most people smoke a ciggarette, and considers herself to be rock hard and GANGSTA like.
She drinks most men under the table, and has a chip on her shoulder in general. She thinks acting this way is going to gain her respect, but people laugh about her behind her back, or try to avoid being around her(where she is trouble is never too far away).
Despite of all of this bravado, deep down she is sensitive, and just wants someone to really love her. She is usually the most attractive girl in the bar, but no bloke ever sticks around her for long, or they treat her bad.

Society in general doesnt know who to be anymore.

This is such a long winded answer - let's see if I can be bothered to type it all up ...

In a post-feminist society, traditional gender roles have been displaced and there is not so much pressure on traditional feminity. Likewise, feminity has long been associated with weakness. In a society in which increasing numbers of children grow up outside the safety of the typical familial structure feminity and "softness" can be seen as a mark of vulnerability. Girls cannot afford to be seen as weak and so adopt a more masculine mode of dress and behaviour. Masculine dress also suggests less overt sexuality and so may well be a subconscious effort to protect a fatherless (so therefore unprotected) girl from unwanted sexual advances from predatory males. A combination of the breakdown of the nuclear family and the increasing displacement of males in society often means that young men are more emasculated than they might have been in previous generations. This leads to a gender gap which is being filled by young girls. Finally, as youth pregnancy increases and many teenage girls become single mothers they are forced to adopt the masculine role of "protector" to ensure the safety of their offspring.

..... Oh, I could be bothered to type it then! Hope this answers your question.

We dress like lads at times and like ladies at other. When I am feeling playful thats when I dress like a lad, when feeling feminine/sexy I hit the heels and when I am in a no nonsense mood , I tie my hair back and wear the suit! Tip: Do not mess with a lady in a suit!!!Hahahahahaha. Ooh about hanging out in gangs, I normally surround myself with less beautiful girls! Mean, I know.

my daugther used to hang around in gangs I suppose these days its safety in numbers who can blame them, but she never dressed like a lad as she always wanted to impress the lads in the gang she hung round with.

When I was in my teens you had one or two friends but the world seemed a lot safer then, I hate going out at night these days.

im thinking of adapting the 'lads way of dressing' just for a change as it looks pretty good wearing baggy trousers and oversized jumpers!... plus people take u more seriously when they think ur a boy instead of a girl...
