well I read that nutrition has a great effect on how lazy a person is and on the amount of sleep that a person needs. I have that problem too and I take some vitamins to boost my energy.
If you ask me, I think motivation is everything. Even the laziest of people will get up for something they are motivated to do. You just have to find what motivates you and stick with it.
Let me tell you for example that I hate exercise. I am lazy as hell if I need to go to the gym, but I love dancing, and I wouldn't even blink for a second if there is a party where I can dance. There are many means to an end, so if your goal is losing weight for example and u hate exercise, try dancing or an exercise that involves people like playing squash or soccer.
If you are lazy as in sleepy all the time, try visiting a doctor or a sleep clinic. Most countries do have sleep clinics where they can test for example for snoring, which is surprisingly a leading factor in keeping people tired. For example, people who have sleep apnea, a condition that happens to people who have deviated nose septoms or people who are overweight or people who have any sort of breathing problem, those who have sleep apnea are generally fatigued no matter how much sleep they get. That's because althought they sleep for long hours, they do not get the same amount of real quality sleep as a person who does not have any breathing problem does. People with sleep apnea wake up at night for a bout 5 seconds every 20 seconds, so they do not rest, but people generally have to be awake for at least 10 seconds (I think) to remember that they were awake. so If you are up for 5 seconds every 20 seconds, then you are losing 25% of your sleep time, so if you sleep 8 hours it's just like you slept only 6 hours. Add to that fact that a person who has sleep apnea also never reaches that ultimate deep sleep in which the body gets real rest. So the quality of the 8 hours of sleep is very different from one person to another.
There is also a disease called I think general fatigue syndrome. This just means that your body is just tired all the time and you don't know why. This condition is usually misdiagnosed as exhaustion or anxiety but it's a real disease and there people who have that disease and have to be medicated for it. Some insurance companies won't even pay for it.
Change usually helps with laziness. If you have routine or are unhappy with your living conditions that could lead to lack of energy. A lot of our energy comes from or psyche. If you are happy you are generally more energetic. Take a simple example, a kid dragged to school feels lazy but a kid who knows he is going to a theme park is hardly ever lazy, probably having to wake up at the same time and spend the same amount of time at both places.
A change in routine is usually very helpful. Do anything differently and you will feel the result. It's as simple as taking a different route to work.
Sometimes routine has the oppostite effect. That is, if you have a lot of chaos in your life or are overly busy, sometimes having control, having one fixed routine changes the way you feel and helps reduce the laziness. Some people feel lazy because they feel that they do not have complete control over their situation. For example, if you are overly busy but you like to go jogging, but you're overly busy, you don't have time, you're stressed, the way your body reacts is by shutting down. It's like a computer system, if you open 2-3 applications at a time most computer systems will run smoothly, but if you open 10-20 applications at a time most computer systems will freeze and need to shut down.
Sometimes having a routine is good if it means having somehting to stick to, having something you like to stick to. For example, if you like reading, and you make it mandatory that for example between the hours of 8 to 8:30 at night you are not to be disturbed or distracted by anything and you will read a few pages of book you like in that half hour, sometimes that helps boost your energy. Doing one thing that you like every day or every week, in a routine, sometimes gives you that boost of energy you need because it gives you something to look forward to and something that you have control over. Control is very important. The more control you have the better you feel.
If you have nothing to do, that could also lead to laziness. That is, if you don't have something to wake up to in the morning, that could also lead to a lack of energy. So being overly busy or not busy at all can both have the same effect on you.
Having control sometimes also means time management. Some people get motivated if they set an agenda. If they tell themselves that they will do something today or accomplish this much today. It's usually a good idea to set achievable goals. That is, if you think that running 10 miles is too much, tell yourself that you will run at least a mile, and you'll see that by the end of that mile you can probably run a bit more, but if you tell your self that you have to run 10 miles, you will collapse because it feels like a far away goal.
Now to be fair some people are motivated differently. Some people need a challenge to get motivated. So for some people, the example above works out very differently. Some people need a challenge, so they would challenge themselves to run 10 miles, and everyday they would try to reach that goal until they do. Sort of like video games, some people get a thrill of the challenge that a video game offers them, while some others find it irritating. It's a matter of what motivates you.
Exercise is generally a good idea. That is, exercise releases androphines (I suck at spelling these things) which relaxes your body and gives you a boost of energy. If you exercise for 20-40 minutes a day, usually that is enough to get your body started on burning fat because it boost your metabollism. Usually if you do not overdo it, exercise helps with laziness because of the chemical effect it has on your body if nothing else. Some people like exercise so it does more than the chemical thing to them.

MAKE a list of things to do and a start time and keep to it .
DOES not matter whats on the list .GET mail at 3 pm and then get it at 3 pm not 2;30 or 3;15 but right at 3 .
ADD something to the list each day and in no time you will be doing things all day long and the lazy will be over .
THIS will drive you nuts waiting and you will want to fill the time doing something till you do the list.
TRY getting up and taking a shower at the same time each day then take a short walk call a friend and then go shopping for an hour or two . do not buy anything but just walk and look and record prices on a pad this will give you the illusion of being a mystery shopper and sales clercks will be all around asking if they can help you with something .

I too am extremely lazy, if i don't have to i won't do anything. In fact my ideal is to be a cat so i can sleep all day and not give a damn about anything. But to get rid of it, i guess you just have to stop thinking about how crap something will be if you do it, and just do it without thinking. That works for me sometimes. Or maybe you don't have enough energy because of a health problem, you might be defficient in iron...if you feel like you have no energy then you should go to the doctor's and get a blood test.

Hello!
Laziness is a choice about how we choose to use our time.
It's hard to get rid of laziness, when your brain is used to being passive. The first thing to do is to start using your mind actively. This means spending less time doing passive (veg out) kinds of things like watching TV, surfing the web or spacing out. Start using your brain by reading, doing puzzles, thinking about things, talking with other people about things.
If you tend to be a couch potato, your metabolism is probably very low and you may not be getting all the oxygen you need to your brain. Get your body moving...just go for a walk. Start small if you have to, but walk everyday.
Make a list of things you want to do, both "work" and fun things.
Get a calendar and make an appointment with yourself to do at least one of the items on your list. If a project is too big to do all at once, do just a piece of it at a time.
After you do it, reward yourself by feeling good about it and tell someone. If you didn't do it, review the situation to find out what led you to choose to stay lazy and not to do it.
Remember, laziness is a choice. You can choose to stay passive and not get anything done or you can choose to make progress.
One year from today, where do you think you'll be? Will you be one year older and not getting anywhere, or you be one year older and more accomplished?
I hope this helps!

As Mark Twain said; "The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one." In other words, don't think about the task at hand as a whole, but rather, as smaller more manageable tasks. I think your problem may also be physiological, you're probably concentrating on all the things you're going to need to do complete your task. Instead, you should concentrate on the consequences of not getting something done due to your laziness. Will someone be upset if you don't do what you're supposed to do? Will you miss out on something? Concentrate on the results and the satisfaction you will get from doing something that you were putting off, instead of all the supposed hard work of getting there.

Easy get off the couch and do what has to be done, Housework or walking the dog or just go for a jog or walk. After you do this you will feel so good. Another thing to trie is a meter for walking and how many steps you take, tell your self to get alot of steps in to beat the other people that are doing the same thing.I did it and it worked. You can find one of those step counters at walmart or at a drug store near by..

where do you study and where do you stay while you're studying? why have i asked these questions? simply because, these may affect your attitude. presently, i am staying in a dormitory and my stay really affects my perspective. I used to live with my family way back in elementary and high school. But since college is a different scenario, you have to manage your own life now, I mean you make your own life in accordance to your degree course taking up. perhaps, you must set your goals and make yourself busy and focused on the goals you have set. i personally have goals set already and that what makes me strive harder. I do so many things worth doing and i enjoy it. One thing also, you must learn to love your self. Know your ownself. That will direct your mind, thoughts and actions to the things you have to do. moreover, I know you have GOD, the One and Almighty, just ask His guidance and blessing and surely, you'll be a better person. "Nasa Diyos ang awa, nasa tao ang gawa."

I struggled with it when I got big and pregnant with my daughter. I made myself get up and work out. After about a week, I started feeling more energized and better about myself.
