Do you think that Andrea Yates is Menatally insane? Or just a frustrated mom? I think she is a frustrated mother, she had 5 children all under the age of 8, I have a hard time with 2. I think she needs to spend the rest of her life in prison thinking about what she did. And what's wrong with her ex-husband standing by her after she killed their children. What the hell? What do you guys think?

Stephani s you are wrong, the husband went to work knowing how very unstable she was, he should be prosecuted as well. this was also premeditated, come on people she doesn't feel remorse for what she did, she refused medical treatment before it happened, even though her therapist pushed for it and she waited for her husband to leave for work, she knew right from wrong.

First of all, I think the Andrea Yates case is old news. Secondly, I do think she was mentally ill... you'd have to be mentally ill to chase down your own children and drown them, no one in their right mind would do anything like that as it is completely contrary to our nature. She had been in and out of mental institutions, was on medication for a long-document case of post-partum depression which can cause mothers to feel like they have to kill their children. Even if you find it difficult to deal with 2 children would even hit them let alone drown them? No... not unless you were severely mentally ill, in which case it would not be legally your fault.

Her ex-husband was negligent in the same way a mother who leaves her child home for 10 minutes while she goes to get someone to watch them and in that time they burn the house down. I believe he was going to get his or her mother to watch her and the kids, and in that time she drowned the children.

I just feel so bad for that family and think what happened was a tragedy, and was largely a tragedy of ignorance of such a horrible mental affliction, which fortunately got a lot of exposure through this horrible event. At least now more people are informed and can get help and I bet this new information has prevented some other mothers from doing horrible things to their children or to themselves.

I also think she must be the most miserable woman on earth at this point and has already suffered the worst possible thing that could happen to a mother (loss of your own children... and at your own hand!!!). I bet she'd welcome the death penalty to put her out of her misery... but legally I don't believe that she deserves it.

I don't know if she is now but I believe she was when she killed her children. I think living with what she did is worse than death. I think that I was responsible for someones death almost 30 years ago and I still think about it often
