I think you are looking for "submit." Its etymology includes Old English "submitten." Submitant is not a word. Here is the Web site if you want to see for yourself.

not found in webster's college dictionary, but that shouldn't stop you or me from using it. I doubt if anyone will admit to not ever hearing it before,but it does sound like it should be a word.
