possibly the shear pin has sheared and so you are generating no spark

grab onto the spark plug wire and pulll the start cord

if it doesn't hurt enough to make you scream, you aren't getting any spark

a less painful test would be to remove the spark plug but leave the wire connected, set the plug so that the hot end is very near but not quite touching the motor chasis, pull the cord and look for a spark-arc from the plug to the chasis

if there is no spark, it is likely that the "magneto" is not generating a spark because the flywheel shear pin is sheared

a new pin is cheap, and in many engines easy to replace

Sheared flywheel key? That will throw the timing off.
Water in the carburator? Try starting fluid.
Wrong air gap at magneto? should be .010"
Does it have points? Or is it electronic ignition?
Is the engine brake cable broken. Off switch.

More info would have been helpfull.
When you said "no fire" Did that mean no spark, no ignition, ??

have by some chance run over anything to stop the engine. ifso you could have knocked it out of timing. also you can pull the flywheel off and take some sand paper and sand the magnet on it. it could be rusty without good contact it will not fire. try this if it doesnt do the trick. i have other s you can do. but im almost willing to bet you that it is what i asked you. good luck.

Sheared flywheel key like others have suggested or the ground wire may have a bare spot grounding it out somewhere.

Check your battery and the cables to make sure the battery is good or the cables are dirty or loose.
