Okay the way I do it is:
I'll type the alphabets in order. Cursor is in search window: type "a" arrow down (item is highlighted) and hit delete. Continue to use arrows, up or down highlighting and deleting each individually. Then once done with "a's" I backspace and type "b" and arrow down, highlight and delete and so forth and so on through the whole alphabet.
If there's another way, I am not aware. Doing "tools, internet options, clear history" does NOT do it for me.
Hope this helps.

The record of search history which appears in the search box on Yahoo! and all other search sites is actually a feature controlled by your browser, not Yahoo! or the search site. Clearing history or cookies will not remove the search history. Clearing history only removes the history of sites visited not searches. If you have Internet Explorer as your browser, you may stop the search history from being generated by following the instructions below: 1. Select the the 'Tools' menu in Internet Explorer. 2. Select 'Internet Options', then select the 'Content' tab. 3. Under Personal information, click on the 'AutoComplete' box. On the AutoComplete Settings window you can click the 'Clear Forms' box to delete your current history, or you can uncheck the Forms box to permanently stop the generation of the search history. A single item can be deleted by pressing the 'delete' key while the item is highlighted. If you have Firefox as your browser, you may stop the search history from being generated by following the instructions below: 1. Select the the 'Tools' menu in Firefox. 2. Select 'Options', then select the 'Privacy' button, and then the 'Saved Forms' tab. In the window you can click the 'Clear Saved Form Data Now' box to delete your current history, or you can uncheck the "Save Information' box to permanently stop the generation of the search history. A single item can be deleted by pressing the 'shift delete' key while the item is highlighted.

i'm not sure exactly what you mean, but i assume you're talking about the URL bar at the top? where you type in the web address? if so, (assuming you're using internet explorer or something similar) go ingo tools, options (or internet options) and find history (it should be on that first window, but it might have its own bar, depending on what version you have) you then should see a "clear history" button. click it and all those pesky website are cleaned out! you can also re-set the time it takes to automatically clean it out, if you'd like, so you dont have to do it manually

Right click on your internet explorer icon on your desktop, and click on the properties tab. Under properties click on delete cookies, and delete your history, your cookies, and your temporary internet files. It will erase all of the past sites you have visited.
