What's really cool about this distance -- when you're driving long distances, and you're going north from San Diego to San Clemente, it's virtually an hour away.
An hour from downtown San Diego, going north on I-5 or Mission Valley, going north on I-805.
It's cool because if you reach San Clemente before the hour on your car clock (or whatever timepiece you're using), you're ahead of the expected arrival moment, and you're doing good time.

I know that it's exactly 52 miles from Pacific Beach to San Clemente.
Pacific Beach is about 6 miles from the heart of downtown San Dog!

Type in your search engine "mapquest" and you can find out there easily. Just click on directions, it'll even tell you which way is best to go, we use it all the time.
