It is a tie for me because Final Fantasy X is on Playstation 2 but Tidus is so babyish and whining but Final Fantasy VIII is the best one on Playstation ( they should make a pack for Playsttaion 2 with ff vii, ff viii, and ff ix ) and Final Fantasy VIII's story and people are the best in a final fantasy game!

depends both of the two games have their highlights but personally i would go for ffx if your a newbie at it as this game is setup so that learners will catch on really fast and then Yunie is a really god add to the game she brings it too life in certain places. trust me follow the ff series and you'll love it. with FF VII cloud is the best character bringing it too life in places too. But in the end it just up to you what you want to do

Final Fantasy VII is the best RPG game I ever played. I wanna play it again. I have it but don't have a ps2 anymore. Hopefully they'll remake FF VII for the ps3.

I like both games. I liked the magic draw concept for VIII and the Blitzball game in the X. I actually like the storyline for FF VII better.

How could you leave FFVII out of the picture?? X was crap and 8 was good, but a bad follow to VII!
VII produced probably the greatest villian and heroin of all the Final Fantasy games! Sephiroth and Cloud!! The original game is even selling on eBay for close to $100 !!!
Add the fact that several of those characters continue to appear in other squaresoft titles, plus the recent DVD Advent Children.... seriously... get your RPGs straight...
FFVII is hands down the best.....
