i have a 9 month old girl and she dosent seem to be eating much. She can keep down infant ceral only in the morning and the rest of the day she dosent want to eat and what she does eat she throws back up. I cant feed her anything like veggies or fruit she will throw it back up. I am taking her to the walk in clinic after work but I would like some idea of what it is. Could it just be the flu. oh yeah and she can keep down her formula and juice for the most part.

It could be she anything. Could be allergies, flu or she is teething. Good luck, Hon!

Sometimes children do not eat , when it is too hot. When my daughter was around that age she would not eat alot either. I am concerned that she is throwing up . How long has this been going on ? My daughter went through a stage where she was throwing up all of the time. I took her to the doctor , but she wanted to give my two year old ( at the time ) a very strong acid reducer. I thought this was ridiculous , so I let it go for about 3 months more and it stopped completely . I think their stomachs are still getting used to food and this is just the reaction from certain types.

The flu is unusual this time of year, and symptoms do not include vomiting, contrary to popular belief. There are numerous intestinal viruses being seen right now, and the most important thing is fluids. Put her on the BRAT diet for now, and if she doesn't want food, don't force her.(bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast) Depending on how long she has been ill, you may want to start her on Pedialyte. Some little ones hate the taste, and prefer Gatorade. Offer it to her frequently. It is good she is going to be seen. The only way they will know for sure if it is just a gastrointestinal virus is to exam her symptoms and rule out other problems. Hope she is back to normal soon.

Taking her to the doctor is the wisest choice.
And I imagine your doctor is going to tell you that a baby nine months old should still be on formula only and maybe very little cereal.
By giving a child this age fruits and veggies and stuff like that you are messing with her very delicate digestive system that is not capable of handling it right now.
Sounds like this is what is wrong with her.
Some babies can handle it and some cant. Also feeding a baby this age foods can lead to child obesity.

Make sure you tell the doctor that you have her on foods already so that he can correctly diagnose her.

Maybe the cereal fills her up and then her regular formula and all just makes her too full. Try not giving her so much cereal in the morning and more of the fruits and vegetable at lunch. Avoid the juice too- that only fill her tummy up with empty calories. My Dr said the baby should only have 2-3 oz of juice a day...

I went through this for a long time with my son. If she doesn't feel like eating then don't make her. Just make sure that she is getting plenty to drink to stay Hydrated. I went through this for months with my son before we found out he was allergic to Milk. He would get sick every 3 months for about a week. This is what we did.
For the first 24 hours only give clear fluides. If she keeps them great!!
Then you can just give her soda crackers and chicken broth. But don't give her to much or she might throw it up. If she doesn't get sick then you can start her on a very bland diet, its called the B.R.A.T diet. Bananas, Rice, Apples, and Toast. After that she should be back to normal...But you should for sure take her to see a doctor. Good Luck!!

I think you should take medical advice, which you are doing. You dont say how big your baby is. Has she previously been eating and keeping it down or was she preemie and only just weening? As a mum I would say its a good sign that she's keeping her formulae down. Stick with just that and juice till youve been to the clinic. I hope all goes well for you

You are definitely doing the right thing by taking her to the doctor. From the description you gave, my guess is that she is teething. When my daughter (who is now 17 months old) is getting in new teeth, she does not want to eat and throws up very easily. Every child is different, but that's what it sounds like to me. Good luck and I hope your daughter feels better.

could be the flu, or possibly picked up some other type of virus from somewhere...but more than likely it is just teething. all three of mine would be sick just like that while they were teething so hopefully that is all it is, good luck at the dr's!

So many things it could be. Flu, virus, cold, acid reflux, or serious things. But, don't think about that right now.
