From an international law prospective, Hezbollah was not justified in capturing Israeli soldiers. International Law recognizes the rights of 'states' to act in self defense against armed aggression. Even if the government of Lebanon perceived the Israel as a threat, this does not give an organization with no official affiliation to the Lebanese government the right to take part in hostilties. Hezbollah are unprivileged belligerents and are therefore amenable to prosecution for their warlike acts, under the Geneva Convention. They're capturing of Israeli soldiers is nothing more than kidnapping.

It appears that Hezbollah; miss calculated the response of Israel. Sure Hezbollah has proved that they can be a formidable challenge; but the price that the Lebanese people paid was stocking. The infrastructure is now crippled and will take years to rebuild. All this because of two kidnapped soldiers; to be used for exchange of Israeli prisoners. Well it all failed, and Hezbollah has given Israel reason to escalate their military provisions.

I'm sure they thought they were justified in doing it, but it doesn't make it right. Justifiable is just a subjective term and anyone can have their opinion about what is justifiable. I'm sure a wife-beater could justify beating his wife, but it doesn't make it right.

Personally, I don't think they were justified in kidnapping Israeli soldiers in the first place... I don't even think they have a legitimate reason to carry weapons!

I hate how the media is finding at Israel by way of fact the undesirable guy and hezbastard and Hama** ,those bi&#h a** thugs and Iran and Syria, their sorry a**es pulling the strings, as victums. for example they concentration greater on the deaths of the Lemonese(I no longer asserting that isn't undesirable yet it incredibly is conflict and that they delivered it apoun themselves, allowing hezbully to stay and arm itself even after a UN determination on ending them) then why Israel is attacking. do no longer hear to the busted up international locations against Israel and the damn corrupted U.N by way of fact they are cowards and have no theory what's the real probability interior the international. i'm hoping lsrael kill as plenty terrorist as this conflict final by way of fact those lslamo-fascist do no longer go with peace. And sure i think of Israel's self defence is justifed.
