Toyota makes a very reliable vehicle...Honda's are hard to beat though. Mercedes....give me a break they went downhill when Chrysler took over......same with Nissan, not what they used to be!!! I'd stick with a Honda over Toyota...but Toyota would be a close second. Unfortunately, American made vehicles just cant compete with the Japanese reliability of their vehicles. I know people with Honda's with well over 200K on the odometer and running strong. Civics depending on how you keep them will last forever...not to mention hold their value for resale.

the better way to approach is pick a model that you are interested in then do your research. yes overall Toyota is a very good vehicle but not all of their models are at the top, they have some that are rated average, the same goes with every manufacturer. I have owned many vehicles (some of which were not rated very well, have had 3 Cadillacs that are rated low but have been very good vehicles), overall if the vehicle is properly maintained you will have fewer problems. You are always better starting with a vehicle that has a better than average track record

their quality is going down. just like the one girl said, chevy is a good one for reliability. i suppose honda is good too, but i haven't had experience with them. i have a chevy astro with 250,000(not a typo) miles on it...so yes i would choose chevy over toyota...just because it's about the same reliability but with chevy you have the heritage and pride.

Reliability wise I would choose Chevy or Honda. Chevy's keep going, but you can't kill a honda.
