I tried to change one of Noel's lines- I didn't think it possessed the resonance that my improvement carried and the Director threw acid in my face. It might have been a gin and tonic but it felt like acid. From that day I swore I would bring crashing down the pretence, the playacting, whole facade that is theatre and Y answers is the perfect platform but that's not all- When I get a new bellows for my organ and a chainsaw for the chandelier, then, THEN I will have my revenge. Be warned- Don't venture near a theatre. Ha ha ha ha.

From one luvvie to another.... I can relate to how you are feeling.

Next time, secure the part and don't change the lines until it is too late to find a replacement!

My dear, you of all people should know that we real pros don't reveal our rewrites till the first night, when the tiresome director is back in the broom cupboard where they should all be in the first place. It adds a real sparkle to the perf when no one on stage has the foggiest idea who's going to say what next! So go ahead and put some beef into Noel's tedious limp-wristed stuff - so last century! But for the real shock treatment, have you thought of Pinter? All those tempting pauses ... fill 'em up with whatever comes into your head!
