(AGI) - Milan, Aug 14 - The holiday of August 15th splits Italy in two fractions: nearly full cities in the centre south, half empty cities in the centre north. This is, in summary, the most important figure of this year's report of the Milan Observatory. In the centre northern cities percentages of presence go down under 30 pct., instead in the centre south, especially on the coasts, percentages are never inferior to 80 pct. Cities of art, on the other hand, are kept alive by tourists (5 pct. more than last year), especially in the centre of Italy. According to the observatory, which carried out a study in twelve big cities (Milan, Turin, Naples, Venice, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Bari, Palermo, Catania and Cagliari), Milan results to be the least populated town in the centre north with 23 pct. of the population still present. Milan is followed by Turin with 28 pct. and Bologna with 30 pct. With regard to citizen services Milan is to be found on the last position, from August 14 to 16 nearly everything is closed.
