Is it just me or do certain kinds of music help you write? To me, if I'm writing something and I'm listening to something like The Decemberists or Murder by Death, I seem to write better. but when I put in System of a Down or Disturbed, anything I write...isn't any good.

It really depends on my mood actually. I enjoy classical music while i'm doing anything that requires me to really think. However, i do find that slow rock or just calm alternative music really boosts my concentration as well as inspires me.

I can't really listen to rock when I write because I ended up being distracted by the lyrics. Usually good instrumental stuff like Miles Davis will keep me focused without getting me started singing and losing my train of thought.

Yes, the human spirit is musical. It stimulates the nerve endings in our entire body. When you write or journal always play some nice music that comforts you. Do not play music that irritates you, make sure it's comforting. You will write great things.

Certainly. Though I tend to prefer music without words when I'm trying to write otherwise I get too wrapped up with singing along or paying attention to the lyrics and lose my concentration.

Music is very inspirational, whether it is while you are writing or just cleaning the house it makes you think and feel better.

Yeah, music can be very inspiring, or it can be very distracting. I tend to create better when listening to something instrumental, because there are no words to influence, only feelings.

Yes, because the music inspires, or in some cases turns off your creative thinking.
