I've heard the same terms used in the same sentence! We're talking about the same type of computer, right? Even Yahoo! Answers has "laptops & notebooks" in the subcatagories. I've always thought they were the same.

The only reason the subcategory is there is so it doesn't confuse people. They are the same.

Used to be a size thing, but no one would decide what size was the boundary.
Then, as they go bigger and fancier, manufactureres didnt like people thinking of thier toys as little more thqan napkins and wanted to firmly place them in a work environment, so they called them notebooks.

if anyhting, there arent any laptops now, they are notebooks

Laptop is the 1 in which we type but in notebook v rite :)

I think they call them notebooks if you are using them for college.

Same thing... one thing to look out for as well is a "tablet" pc... that's a different beast.

One is usually smaller. I forget which one. I like my larger one, whatever it's called.
