In a very recent question about best album ever, 3 of the first seven answers (me included) gave a Floyd album as best ever.

Does this mean that they are so great that a large proportion of people think they are the best, or

Does it mean that fans of Floyd are more inclined to visit sites like this.

Oh, can't you get it at once Pink Floyd made a sucessful revolution in the music which was and is accepted from many people around the world and from many artists and musicians as well !!!
Even nowdays they are more famous than the Beatles, cause is allso known that Beatles vere very big fans of Syd Barrett (the Father(founder) of Pink Floyd).Plus Pink Floyd made some elements in their music for example using a voice from a robot which is use by many musicians today. And maybe you know where does the Disco Ball came from?It is used from Pink Floyd first on their live act in one studio in Englnd in 1967 or 1968 year!!!
There is one fact too that not only the people who like rock and roll and hippie style like pink floyd, it is true that many ppl who like trance or techno are lead by the first Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett who is also known as the Fater of the psychedelia and experimental music......
Obviously you haven't heard some good stuff from Pink Floyd and you r kinda overdrived by The Wall (which is the worse album for me)
I will recomand you to find "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" or "A Saucerful of Secrets" from Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett , and "Atom Heart Mother" "Animals" and maybe Wish You Were Here (which is dedicated album for the founder of the band Syd). The best PF for me are in the two first albums , the piper and saucerful
Hear them first read some I Ching and then u will understand WHY Pink Floyd !!!!!
Most of the fans are sad geeks cause the r not realy a FANS they r pathetic when they talk only about the Wall and that Dark Side of the Moon (i mean everyone have heard those 2 albums)
Peace!

Pink Floyd's music is just quality and, whether you be a geek or not, it's hard to resist it's lure. Take a look at the Live 8 gig, "The Wall" went from the £8 sale section in HMV to £18 best seller that month once the younger generation had got a taste of them.

Certain bands, (Guns N Roses, The Stones, Led Zep, Queen ect.) do make timeless songs and PF are in that equation, thus geeks and non-geeks alike will always thrive.

Thanks to Mr. Cowell and co tho the talented bands of the future and possible Pink Floyds mk 2 will be ignored so that we can hear Unchained Melody sung again (badly) by another stuttering pretty boy.

Yeah, we're all sad geeks ;D But really, they are quite popular still, they will forever be a favorite of mine. For some reason retro is "in", and there will be a lot of kids wondering what in the world lime and limpid green has to do with Floyd. All they ever wrote was Money and We Don't Need No Education, and that song with that really cool guitar solo; I refer to these by: The Failure of Dark Side, Another Blah in the Wall II, and Comfortably Numb. I do like that one, anyway :)

I say long live Pink Floyd! Except for poor Syd. Why? WHY?

NO i think some of the stuff they did was amazing I wouldn't be there biggest fan or anything but man they did create some serious stuff, as well as some pure shite i like the beatles too but some of the stuff they did was pure shite as well. But give credit where it's due Floyd were amazing and i would'nt be one bit sorry to be voting for them as the best .. Put it this way look at the shite that's being released nowadays and people are calling it classic . I hear that word every day of the week on the radio and i wanna choke the fcuking Dj. I'm a 32 year old who's favourite band is Pearl Jam.

I always found Pink Floyd's music to be pretentious and boring. I still haven't met a sober Pink Floyd fan. After they forced Syd out, they took themselves way too seriously

looks like alot of ignorant ppl answered this one^^^^^^
i am a sober pink floyd fan,syd barrett was not forced out he got too wrapped up in acid to perform so he was replaced by his friend david gilmoure and the rest is history from there.its not a matter of popularity, but "Dark Side of the Moon" was on the Billboard Top 200 for 20 years running, now thats saying something. for sober people try songs such as "wish you were here" "time" "money" "see emily play" "another brick in the wall" "good bye blue sky" the list goes on.or all you need to do is blaze and listen to Floyd and you will fall in love with it for the rest of your life.If you go through your life without blazing and listening to floyd then you are missing out on some fine points in life my friend

They were very big in the 70s and 80s. Good stuff. Probably some of the best rock ever. About the fans, some might be dope head burn outs, but not all. Wish You Were Here has to be one of the best ever. It is in the top 5 ever. Check out this site Rock and Roll fans.

Dark Side of the Moon was on the top 100 selling albums list forever, probably still there!
If you've never had a truly spiritual experience, I would recommend seeing Floyd live, if you can afford it-it's worth it!
(the tour runs 120 trucks worth of sound, stage & props!)

Pink floyd has to be one of the most popular bands ever! I am not a very big fan myself, they do seem to influence a lot of bands that are about today!
