My Grandfather died a month ago and me and my mother are going through his house looking for things to keep and get rid of. I stumbled across a collection of old 8 tracks. All of them were in brand new condition still wrapped in cellaphane. Among them were Pink Floyds, some with 6x6 wall flags in the packaging, many Led Zeppelins, Mamas and the Papas, and several other collectors items. Yesterday I went back again and the 8 tracks weren't where I left them. I asked her what she did with them and she said she threw them away!!! I was sick. I asked her where so I could go get them but she took them to a trash compactor and they had already been crushed she said. She asked me who would want an 8 track anyway? Nobody uses those anymore she said. I am so mad at her!!! After explaining that they were collectors items she understood but they are long gone now.

We did have an agreement to talk to the other before anything was thrown away. She just assumed that 8 tracks being so old no one would want them and went ahead and threw them away without asking me!

If she didn't know, its hardly fair to condemn her is it?.Why did you not mention these items to your Mother? I'm sure had she known she would not have done what she did. I can understand you being mad,so would I be,but they are gone.I think you have to take some of the blame for not mentioning them in the first place. Have a good old swear up,then move on.

Well, they weren't really yours in the first place, a couple of weeks ago you didn't even know they existed. I suppose you should have done something about it when you first found them, to make sure they were safe, or that she understood then that they were collectable. Your bad for assuming she would know that. What are you mad at her for? You were the dumb a**....

Your mother loves you in a way you can't even comprehend. Just because she was naive of the worth of those items, it's not justification for hurting her. That's like saying somebody sold a rare coin so it was okay to commit murder. o_O

those old tracks were not meant to be yours from the first place, you have to believe in destiny and fate, you would have lost them in any other way, they were destined to be destroyed , and your mother was the person who carried that out, don't blame her, just bear in mind only one thing, she didn't do that to hurt you , she was just ignorant of the fact that they worth money ,and they are rare .
God is testing you.
you shouldn't insult your mother whatever she's done, you have to love and respect her.

Nothing is worth hurting your Mother. Think of the pain she went through giving birth to you.

forgiving her doesn't make the 8 track come back , but it does make you feel a lot better. You should forgive her and tell her how you feel.
