Better Presidents
Hard to choose
George Washington - because of all he had to do to set up this country. He did not want the presidency, but had to set up a difficult government.
I also like a lot of the qualities of Jimmy Carter, although he was ineffective at controlling inflation.
Abraham Lincoln because he had to deal witih a lot of issues during a time when the nation was divided.
Worst
George W. Bush - deficit, questionable reasons for war in Iraq, no bid contract for Halliburton. Questionable reason for original vote.
Calvin Coolidge - Racist
Warren Harding- Corrupt
McKinley and many others around the turn of the 1900s, very unfavorable legislations for the workers
I agree with a previous post. I would have liked to see Ben Franklin as President, too.

Well the best president was Franklin Roosevelt because the way he brought America back up on its feet during the Depression and the way he fought against the Japanese during World War 2 and kept going even though the man was sick! To me that is the best president and today you can't find a president like that because they are all about money, greed for many things and they don't really care about there people as much. The worst president was Richard Nixon because he lied to the nation and yet he cheated too!

This answer to this question is highly subjective. It really depends on what you value in a president.
One could answer Abe Lincoln because he freed the slaves, but someone else could say that he did it because the Union was running out of men. Another might answer Franklin Roosevelt, but another might argue that he was a communist. Another might answer Bill Clinton, since he had the highest approval rating in years, eliminated the U.S. deficit under his term, lowest unemployment rate in decades, but had the whole Monica Lewinsky affair. Some would say Ronald Reagan, for building American defenses and seeing the end, but others would say he's responsible for nearly bankrupting the country.
I'd vote Washington because he is regarded as the man who started this all, and worst, Ulysses Grant, for sticking old drinking buddies in the cabinet and pretty much not doing anything else.

I agree with your pick. Either Abe or FDR as the best since they've done a marvellous job in times or war.
Worst_ James Buchanan and George W. Bush. They're both incompetents. Both did a terrible job in the White House.

Its a tough call because Washington kept a new nation together when it was still struggling to get on its feet as opposed to being a confederation of states that wanted to be free of central power. His porestige and character played a big role in getting the individual states to come together as one. Lincoln of course kept the union together at a time when states wanted to be free of federal intervention. Theodore Roosevelt did much to bring us into the next century but putting issues on the table to help the working man, make corporations accountable for their actions, and he also invested in protecting our natural resources. All in all, if it hadn't been for Washington we might not have a United States to begin with. I think the worst President was Buchanan because he essentally ignored the issues of slavery, states rights, and left things to Lincoln to fix.

you give us a question and then ask us to choose between the 4 you name. What if we don't think dubya is a bad president? Wouldn't that kind of skew the results?
I think the best president we ever had was Reagan though you did not list him. How could anyone not list the one man who stood up to communism and DEMANDED they tear down a wall? Mind boggling.
Best---of course is Reagan---hands down....
Worst---you don't even give us the choice of Jimmy Carter. Excuse me---he was the WORST president in recorded history---maybe the worst LEADER in recorded history. The oil embargo gave him an opportunity to get legislation through that would have ended our oil dependency---but he didn't----He could have sent troops to get the hostages out of Iran----he didn't....
Sorry---you won't let this pass either but Carter was our worst President.

i think that ronald reagan was the best president because he solved problems in the most peaceful way and gave to the country more than our current president!
the worst [i would say] is our current president george w. bush because the war is pointless and the only reason he is continuing the war is because he wants power over iraq and he wants to prove that america will always be better than any other country!
