7. Sometimes a child's character is such that it is the only thing that works. Sometimes my mother was more than justified in her discipline. I probably won't spank my kids if/when I have them, but I really don't know yet.
8. By 14 or maybe 15 all spanking should stop except in the case of extreme breaches in behavior.

How often were you spanked? More than I can possibly count
How were you usually spanked? Over the lap with hand until I was about 8, then over the bed with a leather belt.
How do you feel about spanking as a form of punishment? WHen used correctly, it is an effective parenting tool
How old is too old to spank? Depends on the child, but usually around 12 it becomes ineffective.

The only reason it stopped was because I exploded overnight during puberty and my dad was too afraid to lay a hand on me for fear of uncontrolled retaliation. He was right. Many a walls and doors I've put holes in out of anger.

While I was not spanked after around 8. I know other families where the boys were spanked till they moved out.
