So you get clean and dry off with a nice clean towel all the time. But say that sometimes you might shower twice a day after a run, and the towel isn't quite dry when you shower the 2nd time, leaving the towel damp all day and then all night, and then shower in the morning....the towel might still be damp, giving airborne mold and bacteria LOTS of time to have settled onto your towel and start growing.
Hence -> a dirty towel.

Did you know that we are shredding skin all the time? did you know that a high percentage of the dust you see around the house is actually dead skin?? people think that the only way to shred dead skin is by exfoliating or bathing with scrubs or soemthing, but actually dead skin comes off when you put on clothes,etc..so, when you take a shower, of course you are clean, but if that towel does NOT dry completely, some bacteria from the water(molds etc) will gro on it, causing it to smell after a few days...plus the dead skin I as telling you about.
So,just make sure you clean that towel Id say after three days, IF you are SURE you are drying it WELL (meaning,by the sun!)...
hope i cleared you doubts..I also had this question in my mind...good luck!

I am sure that you have "proper hygiene" and are clean enough. I don't know where people come up with this stuff. Water attracts dirt in the air, dust, etc. A damp towel will get dirty very easily.

Also, that towel hangs there in the bathroom until you wash it next. I collects dust and dirt and germs and odors by just being there. Ever go into a bathroom that has a smoker in the household? The smell collects in the towels.

Even though you take a shower you may still have some residue from the soap and perspiration from your skin that can build up on a towel.

it's not like with a shower you get all of your dead skin and oil off, just some of it, some of it gets on the towel and some is left until the next time you shower.

After you use the towel to dry off your clean, luscious body, and then go off to work or school,
The evil towel troll sneaks into your house and rubs his filthy troll loins all over your nice clean towel.

When you towel off, you wipe off dead skin and hair. That dead skin mixed with oil and dirt build up on a towel and eventually it starts to decompose and stink.

Because some people don't clean their bottoms enough and soilings get on the towels.
