I have been invited to a very good friend's surprise party. But I know that someone will be there that could present a problem! (A lot of bad history)
Do I decline the invite, to avoid any unneccessary embarasement to my friend? Or do I go and "Bite my Tongue" for the sake of my friend?

this is a tough one but i would say bite your tongue and go to the party...if the history is too bad to make up again then ignore them if not act as though nothing ever happened

Zulu9.... do I detect a hint of a shady past? Well you just get more and more interesting by the day, don't you?
You are compelled Zulu9, because you are just the tiniest bit in love with me, now you need to stop denying yourself what you truly want.
You make tiniest bit sound like a question... maybe you are a lot in love with me then.... !
I certainly don't. I don't know quite what to make of you.
Oh I think you are imagining the mystery bit...there is no mystery to me!

I'm in similar situation... I have to go to a charity ball on Saturday night and a friend who've I recently had a bit of falling out with will be there... despite moving on and becoming friends again recently, she is still interfering in my life, and yesterday I told her that is now it... I don't want her in my life anymore as I really do feel that she is hateful.
You sound like a grown up, so go, be courteous to your other friend, don't be rude, don't obviously blank them and have fun for your other friend.
If things get rough, don't cause a scene, just leave quietly.

If you are certain that you can hold your tongue, even if the problem person tries to bate you then go, though you may want to explain your problem to your friend so that they can be ready to interrupt should things get heated.
If you are not sure that you can control yourself then you should decline the invitation rather than risk spoiling your friends party.

I say go and celebrate with him and if anything trys to get started up just pull that person over to the side and set them straight and if they want to fight get someone to kick them out ive done that in a previous party when it was my bf's party and this girl started up some stuff in the corner to where no one could see but it was a croud of people and I kicked her out and I havent talked to her since. :p it is soooo awesome and my bf was soooo happy cause of it and he had a great birthday and he was happy the rest of the week!!!

Go to the party, wish your friend well, and leave if you think there may be a problem with this other person. Who knows you may go and the other person may not show up. If he or she does, and you think it may get ugly leave, try not to ruin the other person party. I hope things go well.

Just go and have fun. If things get really bad, pretend to be ill and go home early.
