You mean the carpool LANE? Its benefits are you can avoid the traffic, in some cases you pay lower tolls. Those benefits are offered to encourage carpooling in order to cut down on traffic and pollution.

Carpooling Land? Sounds like an amusement park.

The carpooling "LANE" in Dallas (HOV lane) is for vehichles with 2 or more passengers. It is usually not as busy and encourages people to ride share and save the enviroment. It drives me crazy to see one person driving around in a gas-guzzling SUV...especially young people that you know don't have kids to cart off to soccer practice.

In california, you can use the carpool lane if you have a hybrid vehicle even if you only have one person in the car. Motorcycles can also use them.
