My mother suggested using stronger lip balm over night. Do you have any advice other than that?
Please.

Exfoliate the lips and apply a lip balm.
When you exfoliate, you remove the dead skin cells from your skin. The lip balm will be able to better penetrate and help retain moisture.
Mary Kay has a great Satin Lip Set. It has the Lip Mask and Lip Balm.

Take off the dead dry skin. Then, put lip balm. If your dead, dry, lip skin is on your lips, what's the point of putting lip balm on dead, lip skin?

For recommended lip balm, try Vaseline. It's works the best! I carry it everywhere I go. You can find it everywhere. Costco, Longs, etc. Drinks lots of water. I usually get chapped lips from dehydration.

use burt's bee's lip balm. It's natural, so it doesn't have the same junk thats probably causing your lips to be like that. It's a bit expresive for chapstick, but it's worth it. You can get it at Walgreens, Border's (yes, the book store) and probably a couple other places that I don't know about too. They have a website also. I believe it's www.burtsbees.com, but you might want to google it.

use blistex medicates OINTMENT in the tube, not the rub on waxy stuff. Your lips are getting dried out for a reason, like are you taking decongestants? Are you a mouth breather at night? Hopefully it is not because you are smoking things you shouldn't be, as slightly burning your lips causes the condition you describe.

try something with spf during the day and a product called herpacin fixes everything I've seen from cracks to full on herpes. Maybe try staying away from highly acidic foods too.
