The idea is to deter the attacks, not to goad them into attacking.

Because "they" aren't really afraid of those "terrorists". Terrorism is a justification for all those ugly news you see and hear every day. Look at what justification 911 gave the U.S. Administration; the war in Afghanistan, Iraq, and counting, the high Energy prices, the right to listen to your telephone calls, read your e-mails, arrest and detain you indefinitely without any charges or proof, etc. The media in U.S. is controlled by the administration, with the exception of a very few brave souls. You see these world leaders preaching peace on TV all day but instead, wars happen. Don't you think they have the power to stop wars, disease, and hate? That's the question you should think about.

Its to let the terrorists' know that they are doing a great job, and to keep up the good work, otherwise, we might just forget them.

It also helps the "spenders" of the local/regional/national government to keep adding extra taxes so they can buy the latest "anti-terrorist" stuff.

It encourages research and development companies to invest and market New stuff to avert the effects of the "terrorists".

So you see -- terrorists are good for the economy, and that is the business of America--Business!!

It is a pre-election tactic. There was no evidence of any attack plan. Find me any evidence and I will give you a cookie.
