Why is there so much Animal cruelty in the world?

I always hear that they are getting mistreated, i donate regularly to the RSPCA, RSPB, NCDL, PDSA etc etc because i am 100% against animal cruelty and i want to help.

But there is always going to be animal cruelty isnt there? because some people are sick and the punishment is not enough.

Is there a petition i can sign to get the government to higher the sentence for animal cruelty?

I try not to read the newspapers anymore as I always find a story of unbelievable cruelty done to some poor animal or other.
There are some people born just pure evil on this earth,Then there are those who are abused as children and therefore feel they are getting their own back by being cruel to an animal because they are weaker than them,as they can't get back at the person who is abusing them. Animals can't talk,that's the advantage people have over them.
Then there are the children bought up by parents who have no respect for an animals welfare.Ignorant as to the ways to treat animals and ignorant in not wanting to learn how to treat animals.They too, have probably been bought up in such a home.So they think it's the right thing to do. Generation after generation it's so sad .
I don't sleep when I have read or learned about some act of cruelty on an animal, I as an animal lover cannot understand,why when they see an animal,they don't feel as I do about them.They give so much in exchange for very little,a meal ,a drink ,and a warm bed.The loyalty you will be shown by them is endless.
I have had so many animals in my lifetime and each any every one of them, has bought me so much love and happiness, and laughter on occasion in my life.These dreadful people don't know what they are missing,having that bond with an animal. If only they were to realise that everything animal feels, hurt,pain,hot,cold,love and hate.Just as we do.
Animals are more faithful than people,and more loving than most people. If I go out,just for a few moments,I get the best welcome as soon as I walk back through my front door.I have always had rescue animals especially dogs ,as the older one's are the one's who are overlooked most of the time.
The puppy's are always getting priority.The trouble is these puppy's grow up,then some people don't want them.So instead of taking them to the RSPCA or an animal rescue organisation,they ill treat them,poor things.The barbaric situation some animals find themselves in is beyond belief,they have done nothing to end up that way and have no way of protecting themselves from the inevitable fate some people bestow on them. Your so right,the punishments for animal cruelty is never enough,as neither is it with child cruelty. I read animal cruelty has gone up 75%. I think a lot of cruelty is bought about by people being out of work and being on drugs,the frustration they feel about the position they are in, is taken out why people choose to be so cruel.I think as many others I know and have read about, that the "DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE DONE UNTO YOU "rule should apply. I for one,would be only too pleased to inflict the punishment on these heartless people.Then and only then,perhaps when they felt the same pain as they had inflicted,would they perhaps think twice about doing it again.
I despair of the human race in this respect,and pray that someday animals and of course children have the protection they so deserve.None of them choose to be here.

I do not think that its getting any worse or more widespread. I also think that the definition of cruelty to animals is changing thanks to PETA. PETA thinks that even having a pet is animal cruelty. PETA is bogus. boycott PETA./ or join the other PETA. People for Eating Tasty Animals. at any rate I think that the reason you see so much about it these days is that we have better communication as well as people are getting tighter standards on what is ok . PEople had their dogs chained out in the yard for years, and i mean a lot of years now its illegal. It never seemed to harm my dog, but hey. Thats why i only keep invertibrates for pets now. Warning Home protected by 12" centipede with a bad attitude.

If you go to the BUAV website there is a questionnaire you can fill in all about animal tests and cruelty, it goes to the European Commission and could make a huge difference in animal welfare, the questionnaire ends tomorrow 18th august.

It's hard to expect a better condition for animals when the human condition is so poor. In other words, children uneducated and children treated badly grow up treat the world around them in the way they were taught to relate. Helping to improve the human condition might in the long run and a roundabout way, help the animal condition.

yOU WILL PROBABLY NEED TO CONTACT YOUR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY TO ASK THIS QUESTION, AND YOUR LOCAL HUMANE SOCIETY OR SPCA TO SEE WHO YOU CAN CALL TO PETITION THIS CAUSE.... THIS IS SUCH A CRUEL WORLD....AND NO ANIMAL CRUELTY WILL NEVER STOP..... JUST LIKE CRUELTY TO CHILDREN WILL NOT STOP...WHAT IS SAD IS A PERSON WHO MISTREATS A CHILD HAS LESS PUNISHMENT THEN ONE WHO MISTREATS AN ANIMAL..... BOTH ARE HELPLESS, AND NOT THAT HUMAN LIFE IS MORE PRECIOUS TO SOME THAN AN ANIMALS LIFE, BUT THE SAD TRUTH IS, THIS IS A SICK WORLD, WITH SOME SICK INDIVIDUALS LIVING IN IT.... A lot of people have major issues. They feel like they have no power, and they get their sad pathetic joy in life hurting innocent things like children and animals.

Then there are people who are neglectful. They don't care enough about the animal to make sure that it gets the proper care. That's abuse too.

humans don't know how to respect life. they think Earth was made for them. if you wan to make a change, don't wait for the government to handle you anything you can sign and you'll be up there heaven. just start by yourself. make a small group of people interested in this issue. go to schools and explain why animals shouldn't be bitten, etc. make webs, etc. you may think it's not working, but even if one person change his/her mind, that would mean more than 5 animals saved. isn't it worth the effort??

I too abhor animal cruelty,How can people be so cruel to the poor defenceless creatures.They cannot fight back and i have seen them still following their owners after being kicked by them,they are so very loyal all they need is to be loved and fed and watered,is that such a lot to ask? you people who do that to your pets just imagine it is your own son or daughter who is being kicked and badly done to.would you be upset your babies couldn't fight you back either,We are all gods creatures so please stop all this cruelty to your pets, it breaks my heart to see it,it really does. signed:animal lover.

You should stay aware if any of those issues come up for a vote in your community and get others to vote too.

Bullies and cowards will pick on the smaller and weaker. Animals are easy targets.
