No, when you think about it, that the image blacks want. As a show that so things to the black audience they would have to show, shows by blacks. Yet if blacks make show like that then BET have to play it because it black culture. If you don't like it don't watch it, because as long as you do that's all it will focus on.

OK, I am totally white and don't have cable anymore, but I have watched BET in the past, so maybe I'm not 100% qualified to answer but what the heck.
They do a horrible job representing the black community -- it's the equivalent of Queer as Folk representing the gay community. Case in point -- wasn't there even a riot at one of the BET awards shows? It's a shame, because I feel that the entire community is misrepresented by what the media focuses on.

i don't even think most black people show positive images of black people. And for a channel to segregate itself as a "black entertainment" represents a negative and ignorant image.
The day black folks start speaking proper English, stop blaming every life challenge on white folks, and stop trying to segregate from the other races in America, is the day that they will start representing a positive image.
just my opinion.

i don't really care anyway
u are looking at it the wrong way
they aren't saying swears or waving guns around
and its not 'black' they are trying to be cool
and ppl say the music is about drugs sex, money bla bla bla
but Almost every kind of music talks about that
and even if they did make a bad impression on black ppl some1 would have to be really dumb
in fact i think the Jerry springer show gives off a worse image of black ppl than BET

I think BET is a very racist concept. if there was a television channel that catered specifically to white people ( not that lifetime isn't) but one that had the words white, caucasion, or cracker (if you will) in the title, there would be an uproar for minority rights.... I don't see how BET is ok, but WET (although it could be fun) isn't

No, it does more to promote the stereotypes. But on the other hand it gives exposure to some of us who would not otherwise have a chance. It needs to hold itself more accountable to what images it gives of us.

helllll nawww, they don't do a good job representing black people. It's garbage and the channel only perpetuates confusion and continues misguiding our youth in the opposite direction of any spirtiual awakening.
