in Lebanon now that the UN cease fire has stopped the fighting???
If they were any more victorious, Hezzbollah would already be back in Syria!

Will peace & civility & sanity & respect ever rule in the middle east?
And I am including all groups, not just the Muslims...

John J - I hear what you're saying but the fact is Hezbollah was NOT successful in keeping Israel out of Lebanon. How can the other Islamic / Arab countries see that as a victory? That is just bizarre to me.
But Hezzbolla will not be disarmed & will live to fight another day. I guess that is the second best thing to a victory.

Will these peoples ever learn to put their past behind them & live in peace? Yes I mean Israel as well...

miro - interesting point but what is your source of information? I haven't read in any credible news source the amount of Israeli tanks were destroyed.
It seems to me that the Israelis weren't in Lebanon to capture cities - they were there to destroy Hezzbolah armaments & capture Hezzbollah members and hopefully find the missing soldiers (which are probably in Iran or Syria).

He claims victory because he withstand Israel Army for more than a month. Although the terrorist side suffered more casualties, anything other than total devastation of the Hezbollah by the Israelis doesn't considered a victory to Israel. In order for Israel to win this, it should have killed the leader of Hezbollah - which they didn't. The kidnapped soldiers should have been realist - and they are not.

I don't believe that the forces that are going to be deployed in Lebanon going to prevent the terrorist from rearming and from attacking Israel again. I don't think that this cease fire is going to hold water. I thing that the next war is around the corner with Iran. Iran was just testing the water, and for sure the Arab world feels much more confident because they are not totally devastated - unfortunately.

Israel - I hope that there will be no need for another war, but with this crazy fanatic person that leads Iran - its seems inevitable.

He is claiming victory because Hezbollah's goal was to keep Israel out of Lebanon. They have succeeded in this, and in doing so have garnered an enormous amount of support from the rest of the Arab world. Unless Hezbollah is successfully disarmed, Israel has lost horribly.

Well, it's obvious that Hezbollah's back was not broken. Even in the last days of the conflict, hundreds of rockets were still fired into Israel. Hezbollah is an Iranian trained special forces brigade, trained in hit-n-run attacks, and guerilla warfare. The IDF is a conventionally trained armed force fighting an unconventional enemy.

Hezbollah is not going anywhere after this war.

each and every commander i comprehend on the Pentagon the position shaking their head at awe from Israel's defeat in 2006. They couldn't pass an inch into Lebanon's border with out paying heavily for it and then retreat. Israel went into the warfare with sparkling aims and did not accomplish a unmarried one among them: the abducted squaddies were no longer back, they did not supply up the barrage of missiles landing deep into Israel, consisting of their untouchable warships. Hezbollah got here out of that warfare politically superior and bolder than ever previously. Hezbollah went into that warfare with sparkling aims besides: kidnap Israel squaddies, and carry them to change with Lebanese prisoners in Israel. For them, project achieved: they back the bodies of both abducted squaddies and were given back each and every of the prisoners Israel had, consisting of that of Samir Quntar who with the aid of all criteria turned right into a ruthless assassin who ought to were complete contained in the U. S. for his crimes. So, i urge back, how did Israel defeat Hezbollah in 2006?

I know, how does someone deciding to be magnanimous and stop dropping eggs on your head constitute your victory, this is the Middle East they can just claim what they want and they all say "yeah that sounds right!", unbelievable!!, and nobody from our side contends it,they just let them talk. These guys keep claiming victories but it's only because we stop short to stop the killing not because we don't have the ability to obliterate them. We're trying to be human and they couldn't care less about humanity. As far as peace and sanity, etc.,never happen.
