I know the difference, and I'm a woman, and I didn't have to go to that site... I would hope anyone who is mentruating has had the good fortune to have an adult explain things to them.
I have five older sisters so I was aware of things before they started happening to me... despite the best attempts of a catholic education AND an uptight catholic mother at keeping me in the dark about such matters.

Ovulating is when the egg is released into the fallopian tube then travel down to the womb.
Menstruating (commonly known as a period) is when the walls of the womb break down as a result of no fertilisation occuring and this causes the blood to be released.

I've known the difference since 5th grade when they pulled all us girls into a room and explained it. It still shocks me to hear anyone over the age of 12 say they don't know the difference, it even shocks me that most men over the age of 18 don't know the difference. Girls, it's your duty to know how the menstrual cycle works and to inform all the guys you know! This is very important stuff!!

Menstruating is the 5 or so days when you are bleeding. (Shedding the lining of your uturus). Ovulating is the couple of days in the middle of your period when you can get pregnant. THis is when your ovaries release an egg.

Every girl by the time she has her first period should know something this basic. Either her Mother should have told her or they have a course in this in most 5th grades across the country.

Any woman who doesn't know the difference between ovulation and menstruation should not be trusted with a uterus.
