I have experienced this many times since Katrina. MY mind could not rest because there was so much going on for me.What you need to do is get out of your house and just go for a nice walk and STOP thinking about what is bothering you. Give it a rest. If you are a believer, then pray for peace within yourself. If you are not just meditate on the trees out there that you pass as you walk. If you are in the park when you walk bring a book along with you, nothing heavy Something like The Number One Ladies detective agency very light but distracting. You will know when you are ready to concentrate on heavier stuff again.

There are two things that work well.
1. You can go for a long, fast walk. Walk until you feel different than you did when you left.
2. What works even better is to write down what you're thinking. Write it all down......it's like taking the junk in your head and emptying it out on paper. Keep a journal often if you have to......it will give you a way to look back on the recurring issues you have and see how you've dealt with them.

Keep yourself busy, so you stop thinking so much and so in depth. Find a job, do chores, watch a movie...get your mind off the topic.

Write. Sit down and just let it all out on paper. Then you can read it over later and try to make sense of it all.

I'm lucky - I have a lake that I can walk to. I stroll out to the lake, and the significance of what is bugging me fades.

Now, if I could only afford a house overlooking the lake. :)
