Dear All,

Command.exe is absolute hell. I have spent more than 24 hours non stop trying to deal with the malice of this malicious script.

I was infected with:

Surfkick - on Add and Remove Programs.
Spyware.ISearch
Adware.Look2Me - which runs command.exe

Apparently the publisher is:
iDownload.com

If this website publishes material like this, laws should be enacted to make it illegal.

I happened to catch all this and more whilst trying to download through Limewire.

I have had no sleep. In the end I tried frantically to get my system back to factory condition using manufacturer's CD, and reinstalled everything again.

WHAT THE MALICIOUS SCRIPTS DO:

*When you try to search in google and the address bar (e.g. "how to remove command.exe, the script continually hijacks the search and sends you to ads advertising "free" spyware removal and random rubbish.

* Norton, Anti-Adware software fail.

Does any one have a reputable and genuine way of removing command

◙ Safe Mode ◙

If none of these programs work, your next thing to do is to log in while in Safe Mode. You will have to scan for viruses and spyware in Safe Mode. To do Safe Mode in Windows XP, please follow these steps:

→ Save all your files
→ Turn off your computer
→ Locate in your keyboard F8
→ Turn on your computer and press F8 until you see a black screen with some words on it
→ From the options given, choose Safe Mode
→ You will see all these drivers coming up, wait a few seconds
→ Then you will log in using an administrator account
→ Now you will be logged in and everything will be the same except you will see Safe Mode at every corner of your screen and most of your system drivers will be turned off
→ Please load your anti-virus and spyware programs and start scaning your system

☺Safe Mode will not allowed any other program, except your security programs to run while you work on your system. Hope you find a solution to your problem :)

Ah, such are the risks of attempting to download illegal software, songs, etc from limewire. First unplug your computer from the internet. Then reboot in safe mode (hit f8 has the computer reboots to get boot menu) then click on run and type in msconfig and uncheck everything that isn't related to your antivirus from the startup list. Then run your antispyware program while you are in safe mode (malicious scripts often turn off antivirus/spyware progs) then run your antivirus program.

Find yourself a copy of
cwshredder http://www.trendmicro.com/ftp/products/online-tools/cwshredder.exe
Spybot http://spybot.com/
Adaware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and run there online scans.

Get the Firefox browser from http:/mozilla.com so you won't have an infected browser...

Oh and quit trying to download illegal copies of infected garbage.

Good Luck!!
