Well I've had an Archos, a Creative Labs and an Ipod, and I reckon the Ipod's the best!

Ipods are stylish, but as a creative customer (computer sound, and mp3 zen nano) ive got no complaints with creative, apart from active customer service. Web back up is excellent for drivers, and so on, but if you email a question, like what spcification of replacement headfones to get, you get a foriegn, incoherent, "textbook" answer, ie the ones they sell or sod off, no actual spec was explained! Par for the course these days. Nano is good, plasticy, but bass'y, (ONLY with the headfones supplied though). The media player, only available with purchases, is excellent, and my default player for a long time now, on the pc. (well all my pc's, once youve bought a product, youve got it on disk!) I dont like the whole iTunes thing, or the way the apple media player tries to take over the desktop, anything apple is full of marketing, DRM and so on, Now theyve even changed the chip, on new apples, so old apple stuff wont work, pc stuff wont work...only stuff expressly written for it. Even Sony made theyre ps2's backward compatible...and we know what cu*nts Sony are!
So "i" anything, not really for me.

I guess I don't have a creative lab... so I am going to go with my iPod, because I love it! Sure, it cost me a pretty penny, but it was worth every dime! I use it all the time, and its so diverse. I can play it in a hundred different settings and ways. In my car, at home, while I'm exercising, at school, on my lunch break, at work.... well, you get the point. Its compact and easy to use, not to mention I have enough songs to last me a lifetime! All of which is completely customized to my taste and usage!

My suggestion is to not go with the i-pod. You can get the same features (or better in some cases) for a fraction of the cost by using other brands.
I still fail to understand how the ipod managed to get so big at such a high price point. Perhaps all the marketting and hype is really worth it to Apple?

spent £180+ on a Zen a couple of years ago. Was really temperamental and packed in and died after six months. I was told I must have used it too much and wasn't entitled to anything!
Interested in the answers you've received though as I recently asked which was the best to replace it with and the verdict seemed to be Ipod and now everyone's telling you to avoid them.

i heard a rumour that creative have gone out of business. but yeah creative were very good for the consumer, ipod survives as it rips off the consumer and is owned by apple.
