Does anyone else get totally obsessed with these reality shows? I almost sent hate mail to fox when they kicked Alison off So You Think You Can Dance. Why do we get so involved in these shows? Is it because they're not "scripted" or because we want to live vicariously through talented people? All I know is, I need a hobby!

The joke's on you - because the outcomes of these things are totally scripted.

Hi, my name is MizzIzz and I'm a reality junkie too! ; ) Some of my faves are Hell's Kitchen, Trading Spaces (home improvement reality show), BB, Survivor, and Amazing Race.
This is the 1st step to recovery, right?

I like to watch them in the evening... it's my free time, me time, whatever. I'm definitely not living vicariously bcuz you couldn't pay me to date FlavorFlav, or starve w-strangers on an island. I realize some of it isn't real, but I'm entertained, nonetheless. Some stuff you just can't write! Like Somethin, on Flavor of Love, leaving Flav 'somethin' on the floor!!! : 0

I hate that the stars (TV, movie, athletic) make millions to entertain us whenever I am thoroughly entertained by everyday real people & they probably need the money a lot more.

I have other hobbies, like playing Pogo games, making candles & crafts, reading, and YAHOO. I enjoy meditation, listening to music, pets, gardening, and especially my Q.T. with my family. : )

As long as you enjoy it and still have time for loved ones and responsibilities, you're just fine.

P.S. I once boycotted CBS for removing the show Joan of Arcadia.... I still won't watch Ghost Whisperer bcuz it took that spot on the line-up. Luckily, for CBS, my two favorite reality shows are on CBS. ; )

I know what you mean. We get so invested in the characters and the show, that we'll keep watching simply for the "rush" of finding out who gets kicked off, or what drama happens to what person. It's terrible and so shallow. I watch Hell's Kitchen, even though I hate it, for those exact reasons. It's just ridiculous.

well I don't want to be rude, but theres no other way to say this, you need a life. Get some friends who like to go out and talk. Make it a habit to not watch tv. Tv kills so many relationships its sad, people are hooked on it. I personally don't have one and haven't for a long time. I love a good movie, but anything on tv thats not a nature show is crap. You'll have more time, more energy, more fun, and you won't have this situation to deal with

Totally living vicariously through them. What travel. What opportunities. What fun for some. It's mindless and fun to get lost in them.

I think because it deals with the uncontrolable aspects we all face in our individual challenges.

I like the new designer reality show on HGTV. I need a hobby, too!

Eye on the T.V. 'cause tragedy thrills me, whatever flavor it happens to be. Like, "Killed by the Husband", "Drowned by the Ocean", "Shot by his own Son", and "She used the poison in his tea, then kissed him goodbye." That's my kind of story. It's no fun till someone dies.

Vicariously I live while the whole world dies. You all need it too don't lie.
