Wounds produce scars as they heal. How severe or noticeable the scar is depends on the type and location of the injury. According to The American Academy of Dermatology, "...no scar can ever be completely erased; and no magic technique will return the scar to its normal uninjured appearance."

However, there are many ways to make scars less conspicuous. Common methods include dermabrasion, chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing, and collagen injections.

Another approach, called surgical scar revision, which involves adjusting the scar or redirecting it toward a natural line or wrinkle, or cutting the scar and mending it in such a way that the skin heals in a less noticeable fashion, also may be used.

Try a gel (available from a plastic surgeon) it's called Scarfade. Check it out on the net. www.scarfade.com
I used this for several months on my daughter's face when she was bitten by a dog. There is not even a trace of the horrible bite she had. I understand it works on old and new scars. Good luck. P.S. I think I paid about $40 per tube and we only used 2 over several months.

Pure vitamin E works well. Most drug stores sell it in a small bottle, but if not they also sell liquid gel caps that you can open and use. I know a lot of people who have used this for all sorts of scars...the deeper the scar was the longer they had to use the oil.

Other than plastic surgery, you might try tanning. It'll tend to blend the difference in scar/skin tissue. Time's the only permanent way, short of surgery. They'll fade with time. That is, of course assuming they're not keloid scars. (the big one's that bulge outwards from the skin) I've got several such "reminders" of my military service. They're fading too, but are still pretty obvious.

Time. I've got scars that are 10 years old. Some are gone, some are still there, but much less.

Maderma. It's sold at any normal store; Walmart, Kmart, Walgreens etc. It's about $12 or so. However, if you don't repeatedly use it, it will not work. I hope your scars go away! Good luck!

Check out Mederma. It is great for scars, even if it is a little pricey. You can get it at any Walgreens, CVS, or Walmart.
