Use lotion as often as you need it. Skin becomes dry because you aren't either drinking enough fluid or you're drying it by exposing it to very hot water, the elements like too much sun or too much cold in the winter, harsh chemicals like some dishsoaps and household cleaners.
Slather lotion on after your skin has been wet to hold the moisture in on your skin. Look for lotions that have some form of petroleum jelly in them as that will help retain moisture. You can heavily lotion your hands and feet before bed and then wear white cotton gloves and socks to hold the lotion next to your skin all night.
Make sure and hydrate yourself from the inside out by drinking plenty of non-caffeine drinks. Caffeine takes the fluid out of your system.

OH MY GOD!!! I am a lotion freak. For dry skin I would lotion at least once a day after you shower. I use many different kinds of lotions for different things, but for general use I prefer Quench from Oil of Olay. If I only lotioned twice a week I think my skin would dry up and flake off. I lotion every day sometimes twice a day and I receive complements on my skin all the time.

If you mean your whole body, then I guess its ok. You should definitely lotion after showering it leaves skin super moisturized for hours. As for the face, hands, and feet; those parts get more wear so its good to moisturize them more often(daily). It helps to moisturize at night so that the skin gets a chance to really absorb all the moisture and nutrients. I would suggest the lotion of L'Occitane, or Neutrogena(less expensive). Good question by the way.

I put on lotion every single day right after I get out of the shower. My skin is still a little damp when I put it on, so it locks in the moisture. All the women in my family do this and it helps. My grandmother is 70 and she has very little wrinkles. My favorite brand is Eucerine. You can find it at drugstores.

If you don't want dry skin you should put lotion on every day. I would suggest to use St.Ives 24 hour moisture for extra dry skin. So it keeps your skin moisturized for a whole day. It works really well and smells really good.

I use the stuff every single day. I mostly use bath and body works lotion, but for dry skin Lubriderm and Vaseline Intensive Care are the two best brands on the market.

I use Vaseline Total Moisture, used especially for dry skin.
If you can, lotion at least every other day, twice a week is just too little. Try it, as long as your skin is healthy...

Any time they feel dry. If you have dry skin, try drinking more water as well, it probably meens you are dehydrated.
Normally, I put it on in the morning, after a shower, and before bed. I live in AZ, and it is really hot and dry here.
