Yes! It usually only happens if they are scared and trying to get away, but they can. Bunnies will do it for fun sometimes. I had 68 rabbits\bunnies at one time and had great fun with the ones that were house trained. They are easier than cats with a litter box.
To clarify- we would show them at the fair every year, and earn money for college.

I suppose if you scared them they might. Gosh, I was raised in the country and never saw one do that, but they can make a 360 turn in less than a second and take off the other way a lot faster than they could hop backwards I suppose.
