Try running an empty hot wash with a few cups of vinegar. If that doesn't work, it might be because there's buildup in your washer - you have to clean the whole thing inside and out (and if it's really bad you'll have to take it apart to get every last little bit of crud).

To get the smell out of your towels, wash them again with detergent and oxygen bleach, then hang them in the sun to dry.

You can add some baking soda to your wash loads, follow the directions on the box, it tells you how much per load size.

Be sure to put the towels into the dryer asap after washing, so that they don't have time to sit long.

If you can wash the towels in a hot water cycle.

For your washer, I would run a wash cycle with no clothes with some baking soda and hot water to help remove the smell to begin with, then keep the lid open between cycle so that it can air out.

fill the washer and add 1 cup bleach, no clothes, run through regular cycle. The towels are picking up the smell from the washer. if towels are white add bleach when you wash them, if not white use a color safe bleach. that should take care of the problem.

i would rewash the towels and for the washer, always keep the lid open when it's not in use. maybe to get the smell out run an empty load with a cup or 2 of bleach and then make sure to do one with just water to get any remaining bleach out.

I would try using arm and hammer detergent, yeah and leaving your clothes in the washer for a long period of time after it's done will cause the odor smell, what is happening is even tho they have been washed, the moisture is all ready causing bacteria and mold to grow on them, as soon as they are done throw them in the dryer right away this will stop the mold and bacteria in it's tracks, another detergent that works great is the the tide cold water. good luck.

Ok, you are either leaving the towels in the washer over night, and they are getting musty that way, or, you have a lint trap in the washer and its full, and you need to empty it!

(Yea, some models have it, and even people who work on it, dont know what models they have)...

I wish you well..

Add a cup of borax (20-Mule Team) to your wash load when you add the detergent. This will help to remove the smell.

You should also dry them right after they're finished washing; do not let them sit in the washer for any length of time.
