I haven't had a period since the end of June. It finally came this morning but not to be disgusting or anything but it has a "death like" smell to it. Can anybody think of a reason why? I called the gynecologist's office, I can't get in until Sept. 13th. What could be the problem? It's not an STD, my bf and I are tested on a regular basis.

And once again, sorry to be disgusting, but I'm really worried.

I'm 29 and been having periods for 15 years. I know it's really odd for this to happen.

The smell comes from the excess linning that is being shed. It also comes from any of the normal bacteria that is coming out along with the blood and tissue. Just think, what is coming out is old. Old things tend to smell. Do not over worry yourself, it does not sound serious.

I'm Tommy C's mom, so don't panic (he's not here). There has to be a way to get a same day appointment. That's what you should do.
Is it possible that you have had a miscarriage?
You didn't possibly leave a tampon in did you? It could be toxic shock syndrome. It's pretty serious. You could become septic. But I think you would be having other symptoms already, so probably not. Sorry to sound scarey.
Go get checked out. Call your doctor's office at 7am tomorrow morning and ask for a same day appointment.

I'd go to the ER right away. You may have had a miscarriage or it could be something else more serious. I think waiting until Sept. 13 is a bad idea. Don't be embarressed to go to the hospital either b/c if it's nothing, at least you won't have to worry for the next month.

Sounds like an infection of some sort. Did you tell the receptionist that you think you possibly have an infection and could she work you in. That Sept 13 is to long to wait.

Something is affecting your hormones. This could be due to high stress, weight change, being on the pill. Don't panic! Periods are very sensitive things and aren't always like clockwork.
