No. Israel was "given" their historical homeland as a gift after Hitler tried to exterminate them during WWII. Unfortunately, there were other indigineous peoples living there already who had just as much right to call it "home" as do the Israelis.
The Palistinians are too poor and weak to fight in a "civilizied" manner. Israel was always the armed to the teeth superpower. The Palestinians could only throw rocks as they were pushed around by Israeli tanks and M-16 carrying soldiers. So thePalestinians resorted to gorilla warfare, hit and run tactics. That deteriorated into "terrorism" where civilians are the targets.
Israel is fighting for independance and peace, not for an end to fanatical islamist terrorism. If they were given what they want, unbothered use of that landmass, then they would not continue fighting, except in support of their friends (USA).
In my opinion, the Israeli issue can only be resolved through negotiation and mutual agreement (or genocide). Carter almost had it and others after him. The Republicans and especially Bush Jr have moved the matter in the opposite direction.
In the current hostilities, I believe that Israel has the right to cross into Lebanon to stop the rocket attacks. The two kidnapped soldiers were an excuse to invade and start that process. I also believe that Israel's new leaders wanted to demonstrate that they are hawks, and not doves. Their bombing has gone far further than any defense concerns would justify. They are punishing Lebanon, not attacking the Hezbolah. They are killing scores and hundreds of innocents and are wrong for doing so.

In Isreal All citizen's are required to do Military time something like 2-3 years then after there in the reserves till up into there 50's...
