Central Defenders: The job of the central defenders to stop opposing players, particularly the strikers, from scoring, and to bring the ball out from their penalty area. As their name suggests, they play in a central position. (Ayala, Terry, Ferdinand, Nesta...)

Sweepers: The sweeper is a more versatile type of centre back that "sweeps up" the ball if the opponent manages to breach the defensive line. Their position is rather more fluid than other defenders who mark their designated opponents. Because of this, the position is often referred to as libero (Italian: free). The sweeper's ability to read the game is even more vital than for a centre-back. A sweeper is sometimes expected to build counter-attacking moves, and as such requires better ball control and passing ability than a typical centre back. However, sweepers are often merely defensive players. (Beckenbauer, Koeman)

Wingback: The wingback is a modern variation on the fullback with heavier emphasis on attack. The name is a portmanteau of "winger" and "back". They are usually employed in a 3-5-2 formation, and could therefore be considered part of the midfield. As the role combines that of the winger and the fullback, wingbacks need to be blessed with good staminais (Roberto Carlos, Grosso, Lahm )

Fullback : take up the wide defensive positions, one on each side of the field. Their main task is to prevent opposition players crossing or cutting the ball back into the penalty area. In some defensive systems, fullbacks mark opponents. Most full backs are also expected to provide an attacking dimension by getting upfield along the wings and providing crosses. (P.Maldini, P. Ferreira)

yes there are are, and I'll try to make my answers as short as possible. My team of example will be AC Milan, my favorite team!

Central Defenders- Nesta and Maldini are the best, collectively and individually! They basically stay in the center of defense to stop attacks. WHen they succeed, they can also start a counter attack by giving the ball to the midfielders. Other great central defenders include AC Milan's Custacurta, Italy's Cannavaro, and Spain's Carlos Puyol.

Fullbacks-- Cafu and Kaladze. They are basically the numbers 2 and 3 positions respectively. They defend from their corners, as well as serve as wingers to lead attacks from the left and right wings. The have to be very fast to be able to run up the field in attack, and run back down to defend when the attack breaks down. Other great fullbacks include Italy's Zambrotta, Brazil's Roberto Carlos, and France's Thuram!

Sweeper-- Nesta or Maldini, depending on the coach's choice. The sweeper, in my opinion, is the most effective. The sweeper is usually used in a 4 man defense like AC Milan's. The sweeper is usually always free, and he is ready to intercept passes, collect the lose balls from the challanges by the other defenders and most of all, one on one situations. He is always free because he is not assigned to mark a particular player. Nesta or Maldini are both excellent sweepers and they both play the role because it's expected of them. They stick to the central defensive roles also, at which they have made their names at. But from the sweeper position, they usually start the counter attack thruough the middle. Former Italy Coach Marcello Lippi was and excellent sweeper when he played.

there are there are central defenders, and left and right midfielders. The ten outfield players may be arranged in these positions in any combination (for example, there may be four defenders, four midfielders, and two forwards, or three defenders, three midfielders, and four forwards), and the number of players in each position determines the style of the team's play; more forwards and fewer defenders would create a more aggressive and offensive-minded game, while the reverse would create a slower, more defensive style of play. While players may spend most of the game in a specific position, there are few restrictions on player movement, and players can switch positions at any time.
