Please no ugly answers, I am being totally serious.

Thanks for the good answers. I wasn't asking for myself. i have no problems questioning my doctors. I was asking because I was a bit unsettled by the answers another question was getting. Someone was being told besically if their doctor said something then he was right & not to question it. Just bothered me.

ALWAYS question your doctor if you're not sure. I had a doctor tell me once that I was bi-polar after she looked at my chart for no more than 30 seconds (no lie), and what what REALLY going on was a bacterial infection I picked up from the kids that I taught.

Men also go through this, but women moreso, and I totally agree with you. Females should not be raised to agree and go along with whatever their doctor says. Doctors can be very self-righteous and don't *like* to be second-guessed, and it can be the fear that the doctor will get mad and hold a grudge that keeps the woman quiet.

I agree with you. Doctors have been wrong alot with me. Non-Pregnancy related...I got in a snowmobile accident several years ago and I saw 3 doctors... 1 saying that I broke 4 bones, another saying I broke/fractured 7 bones, and another doctor said I was just bruised. NONE OF THEM WERE RIGHT! Truth is I had only broken 1 bone and fractured another. That is why I see 3-4 doctors. There has been other situations too. Just because doctors go to school doesnt mean they know it all.

I experienced the same thing with my old doctor. Thankfully, I have a really great one now. But my previous one knew everything. Even flat out told me on a few occassions that I was wrong about things happening to me (i.e. telling me I didn't suffer from migraines, despite the fact that they ran in my family and every other female in my family gets them, and being hospitalized with one at the time). She also failed completely as a doctor to follow up on anything. I recently found out that I have an immune system disfunction (there are several factors of my immune system which are missing) which the doctor I am with now immediately picked up on the first time I visited him and he wanted to follow up. I was her patient for over 10 years, and never once did she do anything about this. Too many other things to point out.

There are some good ones out there, but sadly they are few and far between. I understand fully that they are over worked and often have many more patients than they would like, but it is nice when you see them about something, they actually take the time to talk with you and follow up on things. We need more of that.

if you dont think that your doctor is paying attention to what you are saying, you need to get a second opinion.

nobody is perfect. a doctor is not perfect
they might miss something that another doctor might pick up on.

i get a second opinion about everything that i consider serious. i went to the hospital and they said that my foot was not broken. i went to another doctor and found that 8 bones were broken. i was sent to another doctor that found nerve damage and torn ligaments.

if i had of believed in the first doctor, i would still be having a lot more problems than i have now.

Doctors are human they have faults. They da*n sure can make mistakes. I do believe that and I feel if anyone thinks their Dr. is wrong go someone else.

If you've ever seen the show Mystery Diagnosis. It shows how doctors are wrong or clueless at times. It is up to you as the patient to pressure them. Sometimes the doctors feel they know it all and refuse to listen to the complaints.I hope this isn't happening to you.

They're just humans working on humans, and they can all make mistakes. And it's true that we know our bodies better than other people. A doctor is there because he's got the book smarts to figure out what's wrong, but he's not perfect.

There is nothig wrong with questioning a Dr. A lot of them have ego's and are only involved in medicine for the money. My wife had a lot of complications with her pregnecy and our orginal Dr. didnt seem to worried about what was going on. We saw a 2nd opinion and switched Dr.'s. If we didnt I dont know if my daughter would be here now.

I think some of them are full of crap, and the good ones are really good, but still human, they all make mistakes sometimes, but lets all not forget that we cannot do what they do, and if you think your doctor is giving you wrong information, by all means get a second, third or even fourth oppinion it might save your life.

I agree. People need to realize that the Doctor works for them not the other way around. Although, sometimes the doctor does know best.

I am a female and I dont think every dr is right. Dr's make mistakes they are human.. I was told by 2 drs that I had gall stones. I told my dr that I wanted them to check again cause I knew I didnt have it. They both told me that they were not gonna retest me again. my mom told me that the dr was right and to go ahead with the surgery to have my gall bladder removed. 5 days after my dr had preformed the surgery on me...... I HAD NOT ONE STONE IN MY GALL BLADDER and the dr couldn't look me in the eye and couldn't even tell me he was sorry for making a mistake.. so all drs are not right.. some are wrong... seen it lived it and know it... have a good day
