yes, make sure it's what u want before u get one. if u want a pet that will like u & cuddle with and want to be petted--dont get one. they r nocturnal and r grumpy if awakend so if u want a pet thats awake in the day more---get a gerbil. they have to have wheel in the cage & it can be loud & they use it a lot so he has to be in a room not near your bedroom. boys smell better than girls who sometimes smell a bit when they have been active. the cage needs to be larger than these ones they sell or else connect 2 togther or he'll chew the bars a lot. then u will have to get him a ball so he can explore & get his energy out. if syrian--1 per cage. i love my hamsters and i love making sure theyre happy. im not selfish- my pleasure comes from knowing ive done my best to please them.

well.....they only smell if you don't clean the cage. But other than that they are good pets. Alot of people don't like rodents so they will tell you bad things about them. Even though hamsters are fairly easy to take care of, it will still be YOUR responsibility. You have to think about how much time you would have to play with it. If you just feed it and clean the cage then it will never get used to you and it may start to bite. So as long as you are willing to commit yourself to your hamster, there aren't really any downsides.

They can be aggressive. If I were you I wouldn't get a dwarf hamster, most are pretty temper mental. I would go with the common Golden Hamster/Syrian.
You have to work with them daily and not be intimidated if they do bite, because they will get even more aggressive if you do not handle them.
You will need to clean the cage often and make sure you have a good lid on top. My daughters hamster got out one night and chewed up her closet door pretty good.

The first thing you need to know is : they are night !!! active. And NO !!! buddies. They live only about 2 years. But if you really spend time you can make him sitting on your hand, feed him from your hand. He can learn also sitting on your sholder and walk a little bit arround on you. We had some but its hard to learn them to wake up at 18 :00 or 19:00 , so you can "play" with him.
They all drove me crazy by running in their weehl at nigth !!! But they are still cute.

They poop and smell. You need to be prepared to clean the cage atleast once a week. I live in a small apartment so i clean two times a week. But other than that, they are great. I love mine, i want another one.

They are great pets to have. They DONT smell. Cheap to keep BUT can Bite if not regually handled. They are Fantastic escape artists and very difficult to find should that happen. They sadly dont live that long either

well not all hamsters are cuddley. some will bite and attack you when you come in thier cage. and if you have other pets they like to torture them and then open their cage and eat them. they also are little escape artists. they never stay in thier own cage. and they are so small they are easy to squish and lose. and they are small but thier bite is very painful.

but on the upside they are very cute!!

they stink. girbils smell a lot better and u dont have to clean there cage as much. most of the time they bite. but they can be friendly if u handle them everyday for about 30 minutes.

they are evil. They like to bite and can be very vicious, and smell rather quickly. I would recommend reasearching a Degu if you like that kind of animal. Or if you want an animal you can cuddle w/ get a guinea pig
