that depends. a cougar is also called a panther. But you are probably talking about the balck panther which is in fact either a black leopard or a black jaguar.

Now a leopard is about the same size as a cougar and a jaguar is a little bit bigger than either one of them and weighs more.

It would be impossible for a cougar to meet with a leopard since they both live in two different continents. Now in captivity it could go either way.

The cougar or puma would meet a jaguar since they are both found in Central and South America as well as Mexico. In the rain forests of South America the jaguar is larger of the two and the puma is smaller. It seems as if the closer to the equator the smaller the puma gets. Most likely the jaguar will come on top because of its size. Now in mexico where the puma is larger and the jaguar is smaller than it's rain forest counterpart, the puma might win because it's more agile. But like the leopard it could go either way. In fact they would avoid conflict as to avoid injury.

Now it is the jaguar that is the 3rd largest cat and not the leopard.

These are basically the same animal...cougars are known as mountain lions, pumas, catamounts, and in florida...referred to as panthers ( the florida panther). There are however jaguars and leopards that are referred to as "panthers" when they are born all black (black panthers). So do you mean leopard vs. cougar or jaguar vs. cougar?
