Is it something that's happened before? Something you've dreamed already? Or just your mind playing tricks on you?

I'm not sure... I have experienced this odd occurance myself.

One theory is that our brain is processing the information faster than our conciousness is, and that when we see/hear something familiar, it is because our brain processed it micro-seconds ago.

Sometime though, it seems like it was something I remembered from months or even years ago. I wonder if there is something in tthe "parallel universe" theory and that in our dream-states, we somehow link to these alternate universes where our present is another universe's past.

I believe that we are here in this universe put here by God or some higher power with a specific plan for each of us. Because there is such a thing as free will however we usually screw things up. Deja vu is a hiccup or skip in your souls journey because at that exact instant you are doing things correctly in your life and are following that plan. I believe that we live the same life again and again until we get it right then we can move on to another spiritual plane, Heaven, or life whichever you believe in. The funny feeling you get in your stomach when you get Deja vu is your energy and the universe snapping into balance. Deja vu is not a bad thing smile after it happens, you're going the right way, and the more it happens the better.

I've answered this question twice before, but hey, why not make it three times if it genuinely helps, right?

Okay, here's the scoop. Events enter the brain and are sent to a short-term memory storage area, and then on to the long-term storage area. This way we can filter out important things we really need to remember from all the trivial nonsense. Once in a while, we send an event (our on-going sensory perceptions) to the long-term storage either first, or at the same time it goes to the short-term storage. So, when that same event is shunted on from the short-term to the long-term storage--surprise!--it's already there looking (and feeling) like a true memory. The result is the odd sense that we call deja vu.

This happens to everyone; it's not a pathological thing nor is it dangerous.

Scientists say it's a trick of the mind.
Psychics like Sylvia Browne says it's your spirit guide's way of telling you you're on the right path. So when you have a deja vu, you know you're where you're supposed to be in your life.
I say we'll find out in the afterlife if someone is out there playing tricks with our minds. But I do know that they are really cool.
It's drunken evening flashbacks that scare me the most.

Usually, since I see stuff ahead in my dreams, it's just me recalling/re-living a dream. My dreams are usually about 3 days ahead of the event, but sometimes months ahead. If it just happened in my dreams then I don't get the deja vu feeling that much, but if it was a dream from some time ago then I get the deja vu full on... until I remember that it was in my dream.

I believe that everyone is clairvoient (<--spelling?) but not every one has the abillity to use it. This is my theory because when ever I have deja vu it is something I've dreamt (<--spelling?) the night before. It's like during the night you mind is trying to release the power but it can't .

P.S. I don't know if someones already come up with this theory but I have never heard it said before.

Well, it has happened to me before. I had dreamed something and a few years later it actually happened. There is also a great roller coaster at Six Flags Great America called Deja Vu. Pretty awesome ride!

I believe in deja vu because I've experienced it many times. It's really more of a sensation than anything. I think some people are more susceptible to supernatural events than others.

Deja vu - a fleeting thought of something you believe may have happened in the past but never did.
Jamais vu- a fleeting thought of something you believe may happen to you in the future.
Both are normal brain functions which we all experience ffrom time to time. Nothing supernatural about them all.

deja vu is actually french 4 'already seen'. its technically the feeling that u hav done something or been somewhere b4 when in actuality, it is happening 4 the 1st time.
i've gotten that feeling all the time, but wats weird is that sometimes i actually know wats gonna happen next.
one time, i was talking to a friend, and i got a feeling of deja vu. in my head, one of my girl classmates was going to come up behind me and tap me on the shoulder with a cup in her hand. creepily, that exact thing happened.

also, sometimes i hav dreams about soem ordinary things, like me saying hi to someone or a coversation, and a few days l8r or the very next day, it happens, and i realize it bcuz i can always tell wats going to happen next.

i wouldnt say i'm phsychic, but that really does happen. creepy.... unless its an advanced sort of deja vu, which is wat i thoght.
