I would treat such claims as false. Some people will try to cash in on a "theme", such as "haunted items" or "extraterrestrials" or "Bigfoot", etc. The power of autosuggestion is such that if someone says an item is haunted or cursed, belief in its "power" will become manifested and some strange events might ensue. As an example, there was this case that I investigated where a ceremonial mask was reputedly possessed by a necromancer. Bad luck attended all of its owners, but when the mask was out of their possession, their luck improved. The factor here was that each of the owners knew beforehand that the mask was "haunted".

Belief in "haunted items" is quite common, since emotions can be "recorded" in inanimate objects as well as the brickwork of houses or certain areas where emotion was high, such as crossroads (the usual place for hangings). It is the belief that fuels them. A friend inherited a doll from his aunt, which had been in his family for several generations. The doll was worn and tattered, but there was something about it that spooked people out. He believed that it was haunted by his aunt, a bitter woman in life, and that the doll had brought him so much bad luck that his life was in tatters. I took the doll from him and offered to sell it. I viewed the "haunted doll" thing with a high degree of skepticism and nothing untoward actually happened, but the friend's life suddenly improved again. Hence, the conclusion that he believed that it was haunted and it influenced him and his life. See how claiming an item is haunted would prey on the subconscious in such a manner that people would buy it out of curiosity and intrigue?

(This is not to say that some articles wouldn't be haunted, as through the research I've done in these types of phenomena it is possible that they can be. I wrote several theses on the subject, which I may put on my website yet.)

I am highly skeptical of the authenticity of so called haunted items on eBay. I will go so far as to say a person can have an attachment, to an object, and perhaps in their passing, ""charge" the object with some varying degree of energy. This explains to a certain extent why a sudden mood change, dreams, and other phenomena occur after obtaining property of the dead. As they were in life, so are they in death.

The items are real. They're not really haunted, but they're real. Someone was trying to sell a taco for a few thousand dollars - people will try to make a buck on anything.

I don't believe the items are really haunted, but I'm not about to buy one just to find out. Sometimes the stories are really entertaining, though!

Dont waste your time, dont waste your money!!!! Even if one is real the chances of you getting the one that is out of the 10,000 fake ones is not too likely. One thing is common, they're all great story tellers. What a crock, those people should be arrested.
