I am 53 so I can tell you I'd be thrilled with whatever my daughter bought me. The fact that she took the time and spent her own money would mean the world to me. It wouldn't have to be anything expensive. Perfume or flowers or even just taking me to lunch somewhere would be grand and very special.

Depends on what she likes to do. Does she like makeup and pampering? Then book the 2 of you a facial or something. Does she like gardening? It all depends. But I think something that is really sweet, and if you are close to your mom, writing a letter telling her thank you for all the things she did for you growing up and how thankful you are to have her as a mom is a really sweet and genuine thing to do. AND its free! Maybe that and some nice flowers.

What does she like, what are her interests? Does she like to read? Does she really like a certain type of jewelry? Is she into specialty soaps, body products?
And most moms really like personalized presents, such as a framed photo she especially likes.
As a mom in my 50s, I'd be happy with any of those things.

Take her to lunch. Or get your nails done together. Spending time with her will mean much more to her than anything you can buy. I know this for a fact. I am a 51 year old mom.

My mom is only 41 and I got her tickets to a spa with her friends and she loved it and she told me it was the great thing that I ever gave her!

A gift certificate for the spa, or for a store that you know she really likes but doesn't usually buy for herself.

If she has a loving relationship with her children ( or even has any) I would suggest a "Mother's ring". If that doesn't fit well, then I suggest anything that is Relaxing. You know her better then any of us.. What makes her relax? Then give that to her. :)

I would buy her a designer handbag or treat her to a shopping trip to London.

My mom likes clothes, so I would probably buy her a nice jacket or something.

If its her son in his 30s I'd suggest a 750cc motorbike. She'd love it.
