Project Gutenburg is amazing, but remember all free materials will be old, since the only books possible to be online for free are in public domain.

If the book you're looking for is under 60 or so yrs, you'll never find it free online. Have you checked your public library?

Project Guttenberg (www.gutenberg.org) has thousands of free e-books that are no longer coverered by copyright. Also Bibliomania (www.bibliomania.com); Classic Reader (www.classicreader.com); An Online Library of Literaure (www.literature.org); Page by Page (www.pagebypagebooks.com). Try the Internet Public Library site (www.ipl.org) and on the left-hand navigation bar select Books under "Reading Room". A site that indexes online books and links to sites is onlinbooks.library.upenn.edu.

Gutenberg.com has all classic books in their unabridged versions. From Dickens to H.G. Wells, it's got everything. I really like it. Oh yeah, it's free as well.

I highly doubt it..it could be cool...a virtual library where maybe a $10 a year fee could be charged for unlimited access to their books.
