At the end of the day, I like to vacumn my family's great room. We have 17 month old twins, so it gets a little crumby in there. My husband told me this wears out the carpet faster? I dont go over it for very long...just a quick vacumn every night. Thanks.

It does not hurt your carpet, vacuuming daily will help. When carpets are left uncleaned its the small particles like sand and grit that lodge deep in the carpet that wear a carpet out. Constant walking on a carpet grinds the grit into the backing thus wearing it out quicker over time. Vacumning also keeps the pile up and full instead of matted down (especially in your traffic area) older carpets this may have been true but not with todays synthetic carpets. Keep on vacumning

Men..... A quick vacume is better than whats left behind staying there.
You can get one of those " sweepers" thta are not electric if hes that concerned, but they dont suck up all the crumbs etc.
Raise the vacume higher too is another idea, or wait till he goes to work and do it in the A.M.

no it can't hurt it. i think if you vacuummed for a long time it would. as long as it's just quick it won't hurt though.
