Is there a value to human existence? Why do you human beings exist? Is our existence, our life, nothing but a random event? Do cows have a value or a purpose in life. Why not? What's underlying in your question is 'why do humans exist?"
Human beings obviously exist because they manifest themselves to other human beings: Among other attributes, human beings have mass and appearance that can be measured and observed, both by subjective, physiological means and by objective, scientific standards: Human beings exist.
Is our existence, our life, nothing but a random event, the leaf blowing in the wind, the ripple in the stream? If we suggest that there is a meaning or value superimposed on human life, what is the mysterious power that imbues our life with such a purpose or value? If this obscure power does exist, how does it manifest itself? If this obscure power does not manifest itself to humans in any objective form, it does not exist as far as humans are concerned. Therefore, it cannot convey a preordained or predestined value to our life.
Biology defines human beings as animals. Do other animals have a meaning or value attached to their life? If only human life has meaning, what is it that sets humans apart from other animals? The great apes are the first cousins of humans. Is there a value attached to their life? Does a cow, a pig or a monkey have a value ascribed to
its life, except to serve as food for humans?
In the perpetual struggle for survival, all living organisms are constantly engaged in a battle for limited resources. Lower life forms have little control over their inherently hostile environment. Only man has evolved rational thought processes. Among animals, only man can
utilize his rational mind to achieve a higher degree of survival and security in an inherently insecure world.
Human existence is the result of nothing but randomness and the survival of the fittest. We, as individuals, are nothing but the result of a random encounter between an egg and one of many millions of spermatozoa.
My own existence, as an individual, is an accident based on randomness. There is not one scintilla of evidence that any other factor was involved in my creation. There is no meaning, no significance, no purpose and no manifest destiny to human life.

We do not know why we are alive. Life seems to be a by product of the universe. The meaning of life is whatever you give to it. We die because our bodies cannot regenerate but why that is so is not clear when our bodies could have been made so they could last indefinitely. Do we come back to life after death is something which is not known and cannot be known. Some speculate that we do but this is only speculation with no grounding in fact. The outcome of life is usually procreation: the creation of further life. It is so mysterious only because we don't understand it and we feel that we should. If we accepted that it had no meaning and that its ultimate outcome was also meaningless then it would not be mysterious only baffling!

The purpose of life is to learn certain lessons that would be difficult if not impossible to learn in our primary reality as spirit. We inhabit these vulnerable body's for a while to come to the understanding that no response to any situation is logical other than a loving response. The vulnerability of the body adds greatly to the exercise by providing fear that the self might be extinguished if the body becomes damaged.
Once this lesson has been learned death allows us to return home. It allows us to exit this our secondary reality and return home to our primary reality as spirit. Death to be properly understood must be thought of as an exit strategy that allows transition from the secondary physical reality, to our true or primary reality of spirit.
It is not all that mysterious.

There's a reason why the Golden Rule was formulated and quoted throughout the ages. And for the creation of religions which we hope will explain our relationship to the universe.
Dang, I didn't answer your question....sorry.

You asking what humanity have been asking himself since it's beginning. Religion have been created to answer that question. Sadly we still don't have any real answers for that.

My theory is when you die you go to heaven and if you didn't do it right while alive, God sends you right back to do it again. So I guess I believe a repeat is Hell.
